hey guys, all of a sudden today my pc has started to freeze up. Both times its happened in a dota 2 game, screen will freeze for a sec, unfreeze, then completely freeze up. i have to then turn the pc off. Earlier when i did that i couldnt boot windows because bootmgr was missing.. so i did a windows repair off the cd and that fixed that issue but the crashing is still happening.

Any ideas?

I5 2500k 4.5ghz
8gb ram
850w xfx psu
sapphire 7950
asus p8z68-vgen 3 motherboard

cheers

Latest firmware for the crucial drive? I'd do that first, seen lots of freeze issues with 5400 hour bug

Then I'd try setting power control slider to 20% in ccc for the 7950,and start looking at memory settings/voltages if still having issues

have you tried checking the event viewer to see what the cause is ? if you can get an event code you could try googling it to see if that sheds any light on the problem ?

Ye ive got the power slider to 20%, i havent updated the firmware so il give that a go. Dunno ive had the pc for over a year with no problems at all so ive never really touched anything apart from updating my graphics card drivers and a slight overclock on it :/

Download ssd life and see if the hours usage is around 5400 hours,if so chances are its the freeze bug, fixed with latest fw

What fw version? Id flash to latest one,it will say excellent health but with still suffer the freeze bug till you update firmware

can i ask thought would the ssd be causing it even if dota is running on the normal HDD and not the ssd? i guess it would but i dunno. I just dont understand how its suddenly started to happen now

yeah if your os is on the ssd,it can affect anything

to rule it out update the m4 then take things from there
