Not sure if this is the right forum, and obviously ocuk don't sell such a thing, but was wondering if any of you have bought a decent desk lately? Looking for something that will house 2 x 27" monitors.

I've been hunting everywhere but choice is gash (where I've looked anyway).

I have an Ikea MALM Desk, black.

Its a decent size, sturdy, has good storage and fits plenty on top of it.

it also has a trunk under the back of it to keep your cables tidy.

more than big enough for your Air 540 and a few monitors.

I have a Galant in one room. It's big and cheap, and very well made. John Lewis and Heals both have some nice desks when I looked a couple of months ago. Ended up with one from JL for at home.

I have this tabletop with 2 legs and this unit.

Legs and drawers should be the same height and obviously get your colours to match ;)

Should come in at around £90 for a 2 metre wide desk.

Found a pic.

Ikea are breaking my heart. Having decided on 2 units with a table top across just like Peter's... I then realise delivery is going to cost another 30%. £30!

Seriously, WTF are they thinking?

I'm planning on doing the same thing. You would have to secure the drawer units.

By the way, while reading various reviews of desks I was really surprised by the amount of people that also call them draw units instead of drawer units. What is that all about!

Probably because a lot of people will say draw instead of drawer due to their accent and where they come from in the country.

I need a new desk but I'm having a really tough time getting one the right size.

The current one I have is very nice, but too small for me.

It's 110cm wide by 55cm deep.

Thing is it needs to fit in the recessed alcove pictured, with quite tight constraints, wall to wall it looks like I can just fit a 120cm wide top into it with a couple of mm to spare. This width narrows at the floor to approx 116cm due to the skirting boards, so the legs can't be flush with the edge if it's a 120cm top.

The depth of the table is also restricted to 75cm (if the width is 120cm) due to the door frame on the right. Ideally I would want it 70cm deep. The bugger is that most of the nice 120cm desks at ikea are 80cm deep :(

In particular their nice new Bekant/Galant desks.

I'm wondering if it would be worth getting one and taking saw to the back of it to reduce the depth to 70cm. It might look crap though and compromise the integrity of the desk....
