any idea why my pc wont POST if i set my hard drives set to AHCI? it hangs at detecting the hard drive (320gb), tried different SATA ports but same outcome.

it boots fine if i set it to IDE but i have a SSD so i'll want to use in AHCI mode.

Windows uses different drivers for AHCI and IDE modes so if you change the mode Windows tries to load the wrong driver.

If you have a search on here there is a registry fix you can use to swap the driver over.

its not even the boot ssd thats the problem, its a secondary hard drive that doesnt work when i put the mode into AHCI (i installed windows on the ssd as AHCI) but works fine as IDE (but then my ssd boot drive doesnt)

its not even windows, its stuck at detecting the drives in the bios thats where its hanging..
