Hi all

I have jsut formatted my PC and windows was a bit confusing when reinstalling, some issues etc.

Ive installed back to my SSD, however windows doesnt seem to want to boot from it when its selected as primary drive, it has to be secondary.

Ive checked in hard drive manager and it confirms the OS is on the Samsung SSD...

So is there a way i can work out whats going on here? Im hearing some life from a hard drive inside my case which i shouldnt do if im on the SSD!

Appreciate any trouble shooting advice.

tried a startup repair with windows disc when it fails to boot from the ssd?

it could be down to the boot record or part of it being on the hdd

if you set the ssd as first boot device in bios, then boot from the windows disc/do startup repair, that should cure it

As Wazza said really.

Windows may have stored your boot record on the HDD.

when you installed windows did you disconnect the HDD and only have the SSD in?

best thing to do is disconnect the HDD and run the windows repair which should fix the issue. once done you can connect the HDD back up

yeah this happened to me last time i installed, i forgot to remove the storage drive before i reinstalled windows so i ended up with the boot files on tthe storage drive, i just did what wazza said, disconected storage drive booted with USB windows and ran repair then it installed the boot files onto the SSD for me.
