PC Exclusives?

Hey all :D

I was thinking about PC gaming then I suddenly realised something...

..I can't think of a single 'epic' PC exclusive game, which troubles me.
So I ask - are there still any AAA PC games out there? Games which are (preferably) new? Games with stunning visuals, gameplay AND story without mods?

I'm not all that keen spending a lot of money on a PC just to play games which are available for my console.

(Btw, yes I did read that list of PC games, but it mostly seemed like old or multi-platform games)

Sounds like you are quite young, there have been many many PC only 'epic' titles and there still are. You are not going to get a single epic MMO on a console for example.

Yup ^^
Do you know of any recent/upcoming ones which would be...well..amazing? :D
I'm looking for something like maybe Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted 2, Halo: Reach etc in terms of quality/ style if that helps. Not an MMO, but 'normal' online play (pref coop :D )

Agreed the PC is the best for MMO and likely strategy too.But that isn't really what I'm looking for. I've checked most of the games you guys mentioned, just none seem AAA quality ;/

Crysis looks good, witcher isn't too bad either. I'm just used to playing games like Uncharted, MGS4, Red Dead redemption, FF XIII etc. So to me they kinda seem a step back from what I'm used too. D;

What are you playing on the console that you are comparing against and you deem AAA then?

If you say COD please leave now.

Well, CoD games are good (if not stale) , but not really my favourite.
The main ones which come to mind at the moment are Uncharted 2, MGS4, Red dead, FF XIII, God of war 3 and Killzone.
Plus later this year games like Resistance 3, Uncharted 3 etc will be coming out.

Only ONE game I can see being epic on PC would be TES: Skyrim..partially due to mods (if there wilk be support included) which is multiplatform :(

You are really confusing me here.

In what sense are they a step back?

Just things like on RDR where you can see far into the distance with stunning views, as if you shot people in the kneecaps they become unable to walk or in Uncharted where gameplay is like a cinematic cutscene. MGS4 where you have a truly epic story. Things like that.

I bought a PS3 for Killzone 2. How disappointed was I when I found out it was completely meh.

Borrowed MGS4 but that bored the crap out of me. Bought GTA4 a year after release and it was far superior on PC but I was quickly bored with that too so I doubt I will find RDR that much better. GT5 was also a huge disappointment.

Uncharted 1 and 2 however were both fantastic, game play graphics and story/characters. It was the only game that was worth me getting a PS3 for.

Agreed MGS4 is slow to start with, but for me it picked up at the end oh chapter 3.
Killzone 2 wasnt much my thing either. Didnt even play GT5.
As for RDR, I think its a lot more realistic and has more depth to it over gta 4, but for most they are put off by its setting. Some things they do still have in common.

yeah RDR, Uncharted and maybe Last Guardian are the only games worth playing on consoles..
don't even talk about xbox, that has like 1 worthwhile game (forza) that's all

MGS4 was kind of a mixed bag, it was interesting but had some huge flaws and as ending of a story it was a letdown (nanobots did it!).

Now its just finding something like that on PC, otherwise its just Cod 4 (and maybe WaW for zombies), L4D2, CSS and skyrim for me.

Tastes differ too much for this thread to go anywhere. I got bored with RDR long before finishing it, thought FF XIII was terrible and, while I enjoyed it, MGS4 wasn't nearly as good as I had hoped. Uncharted 1 & 2 were both great fun. The Resistance games were very average and I couldn't care less about part 3.

I guess, would you know of any upcoming FPS' for PC which are expected to be good?

*sigh*
Not interested in the console war >_>
For those telling me to get a better PC - I Don't have one -_- try reading OP again.
For the person who wouldn't class RDR, MGS4 etc as AAA, well then your wrong.
For those saying "try flight sims with multiple screens", thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not interested at all in Flight sims, Racing games, MMO's (much) or especially RTS games (Yes including shogun 2).
Personally my PS3 is good enough, I enjoy my games and just because PC graphics can be better, that don't mean PS3's have crap graphics. It has smooth HD on my favourite games, everything else (in terms of hardware) is optional.

I haven't slated PC gaming at all, I just want to know:
Are there ANY UPCOMING FPS (or maybe action/ adventure) games which have life-like graphics, hollywood style visuals etc. Seems so far that PC exclusives (that I would be interested in) are dying, but multiplatform games seem to 'better'.

So, are there any you can recommend?

If not, which multiplatform games are you looking forward to?
Personally I'd say TES: Skyrim ( >The witcher), Battlefield 3 and (if due this year) GTA 5.

As for old games i'll be trying: Crysis, CoD W@W/ MW1, CSS and Gta 4

If you don't actually have a decent PC, why are you so intent on finding graphically intensive PC exclusives to play? Nothing anyone has suggested (particularly GTA IV and Crysis) will run or look good on a sub par PC.

Apparently it'll be quite easy for existing rFactor mods to be converted to rFactor 2. There are also groups that are currently working on rFactor 2 mods, such as CTDP F1 2009 and RMT World Super GT 2. Source.
I find your lacking ability to understand worrying.

I can't put it any clearer than this:
I. Do. NOT. Have. A. PC.

Why you ask? How would you feel on spending a large amount of money for a new device for gaming only to find out there aren't any exclusive games you like?

Plus its always better to plan ahead. So I'm looking at what 'AMAZING' games the PC has to offer which I would find interesting and are DUE. (So again) Thats FPS, Action, Adventure and MAYBE Fantasy RPG (If its Skyrim / Dark souls quality)

:p

Diablo 3? That's one of the main reasons i'll be upgrading my PC. To be fair though, if you don't like strategy games, mmos, and don't think superior visuals, mods and dedicated servers are worth the price of a decent gaming PC, you'll be better off sticking to consoles. From my point view, even though many fps aren't exclusive to the PC, they might as well be as playing without a dedicated server and with a pad detracts from the experience to the extent that I wouldn't want to play them in the first place. I'm not a PC fanboy btw - have all the consoles and split gamimg equally between PC and consoles - but once you're used to online gaming with a m&k and dedicated servers it's pretty horrible going to p2p and pads - at least for anything pacey that requires a decent aim (so not Killzone ;)).

And yes, RDR got pretty dull pretty quick and FF13 is bloody awful! AAA my arse :)

Thank you!!! A Suggestion at last!

Although I didn't mention anything about not wanting mods or dedicated servers o.o
Modding is something I'm interested in. I'll look into diablo 3 btw.
thanks for your advice ^^

You don't have a PC, so what's the point in wanting to know about PC exclusives? You're not going to be able to play games on PC (exclusive or not) unless you shell out for one, and it seems like you've already come to the conclusion that there are not enough 'AAA' (what a load of bull) games on PC worth your time.

But for what it's worth, The Witcher 2 is looking to be an extremely good game. Maybe you should go read about it and watch some videos, not that it will make one iota of difference because you're never going to play it. At the same time you're trying to find out what decent games are on PC, it also seems you're trying to find reasons not to bother with PC games at all.

I guess what I now want to know is: if there were a handful of "AMAZING" PC games out or due for release soon, would you buy one? If the answer is no, this thread seems a bit moot.

I really don't mean to argue with you; it's just that I'm failing to see your angle.

I'm planning on getting a PC and if I like the games a lot then i'll spend extra.
I WANT to invest a good PC for games. I want to TRY PC gaming. I Want to play games that I'm going to ENJOY.
But I just can't find any upcoming games which interest me enough (With the exception of maybe one or two upcoming games and a few old ones)

I Never said that PC doesn't have many good exclusives, I just can't find one I'm going to enjoy TONS. Yeah I might have fun in CSS or w.e. but that stuff depends on m8s who i'll be playing with. (I Live in a console dominated area - only 4 PC Gamers I know)

I didn't say the witcher will suck. Sure I'll read about it and check out more videos (the first one gave me a bad impression due to it freezing (small thing I know)). If I do like it then I'll get it. If there was a handful of amazing PC games out there then I'd try them all (in order of which they interested me). I just don't like the idea of spending £800 on a PC to play games which are on my PS3 (even if they are better on PC)
If I like a lot of games on PC (and there are a few) then i'll just get a good PC

As for the term 'AAA' I didn't make it up -_- just if I used it I'd thought you knew what I meant easier.

dont know why it has so many replies

come on guys just lets just ignore this guy

Agreed, lets ignore him. People falsely accusing others of trolling. :p
But really, its a discussion, the thing forums are usually meant for. If you have nothing worthwhile to say then avoid posting.

^^^ and fair enough, maybe I should have asked for high quality games instead, but you get the jist.

"Name me some good PC exclusives.... (I don't have a PC)"

This thread is a joke.
Mind your manners!
I doubt you'd spend 900 pound on a console only to find there aren't any games you like. If its really rhat hard to understand either re-read my posts (cause I'm pretty sure I answered/corrected everything)

Hmmm, why post when you have nothing worthwhile to say?

I only asked a few of you to name a few good games (which will be released later this year) so I dont have to spend ages looking for them when I actually buy a good PC. Its called Planning in advance

i named you one. Arma 2.

And I looked at it, thought it was 'alright' and added it to the list I'm keeping an eye on. (Others include diable 3 and Witcher)

However now I'm just looking at which multiplatform games to buy which will be 'better' on PC due to mods etc. Seems the best way I'm going to get the best experience is by using a good PC with the games I like (Console / multiplatform).

Short for AmrAAm.

Fun fact: I game at a four times higher resolution than that on consoles (1440p vs 720p). Also apply Supersampling or Adaptative AA depending on the game. Also get Texture Filtering and all the glory of Dx11. The difference is often like that between PSX and PS3.

Also got a mouse and a keyboard, my two hands' extensions to maintain a God-like form in any games that aren't played better with a joystick/wheel/gamepad. There's only a bunch of games that look good on consoles and none of them aren't beaten on PC.

Problem, console gamers?

Now to be serious on the subject, many games are not PC exclusives even though most of the well-known series started on PCs and now are catching up on consoles. That doesn't prevent them from being better on PCs.

Second thing to bear in mind, modding communities. This can likely change the entire experience from a

Third thing, indie games. It's easy to distribute games on PC platform.

Forth thing - customisation. You can do anything you want with your PC, it can look how you want it to, it can play how you want it to and it can be what you want it to.

Fifth thing - games prices - these can be really low compared to

Sixth thing - patches and development. Many of the PC titles don't stop evolving after release which can't be said about console games. It's not only about bug fixes after all.

Expansion packs are also something that is pretty much exclusive to PC games. It's not DLCs that add a few maps and skins but often large overhauls of the game.

PC exclusives? Plenty of RTS games, TTS, simulators, tycoons, other kinds of strategies, cRPGs, MMORPGs, browser based games, probably a dozen of genres none of us heard about, many mixes and cross-overs that would never work on consoles, emulators, old-school relicts, etc. The list is never-ending, almost. There are some pretty good FPS exclusives over time but most make their way to consoles anyway.

PC gaming is usually much more "hardcore", console gaming - casual. It's not a bad thing, I would call it a preference. I've got consoles and never even touch them any more. They're not worth my time TBF.

Play TF2 if you like, get some of the well-known strategies, play an MMO or two, find what's hot in indie development, get a game that you can easily mod and see how you like it.

PC gaming is an entirely different experience at times.

First problem: That wasn't really fun at all reading through all of that as most of it was pointless. I know half of that stuff and don't care about the rest.

Second Problem: Completely irrelevant to OP.

wish psn would hurry up and take him away. there's nothing for you here, you only want shallow games and pretending you would be into modding.......

'Pretending'? How old are you? Shallow? Are you for real? :l
Your ability to read is terrible, either that or your sulking terribly.
Quit trolling dude, I came here to ask about games, somebody mentioned mods so I asked them which ones they liked. Sheeesh.

I'm here to find games that I'd find interesting on PC. Not whine about consoles or which is better or any of that fanboy stuff.

Sure a few helpful members offered useful advice (buy games on a delay for cheaper, try mods, PC games have longer support, try Crysis, try arma 2, try witcher, try bf 3 etc etc)

If there is anything pointless you want to say then please refrain from doing so. If you want to be helpful and point me in the right direction. Then feel free.

tried google to find games interesting on pc? or the sticky at the top of the pc games section?. Honestly I have all the formats and dont seem to have the same trouble as you finding out about 1 formats game. Its not like pc gaming is a big secret and needs several pages. this thread was pointless as soon as you said you were happy with your console gaming even, almost going as far to saying it doesnt have games as good as uncharted etc. Also the helpful tips you got were hardly rocket science (buy games on a delay so thery are cheaper? oh yeah the longer they are out on console the more expensive they get!) longer support? yeah maybe from the community but hardly from devs these days (not including valve they are awesome) mods? judging by the games you like fat chance of that. bf3? yeah that would hopfully show you the gap that has developed between consoles and pc. PSN HURRY UP AND TAKE HIM AWAY...........

ps

the sticky at the top even breaks it into sections for you, simples ;)

Yup, I tried google, nothing interesting though, just old stuff.
Yes I tried the sticky also, was mostly old or multi-platform, I was looking for exclusives which would still be appealing to me.

Now it's more of a case about what games which are multi-platform (read: good) and people plan to get.

As for finding for finding games for one format - seeing as its PC there is an endless ocean of junk (and fanboys).

Games get more expensive on console after they are released?
Turns out console games get cheaper after awhile just like PC games. Shocker.

So your saying that after devs release games on PC they don't bother supporting them? so that other poster was wrong? (or misunderstood?)
Either way, moan at him, not me. I'm not a PC gamer so I don't know all the details and he suggested it.

How does being a console gamer (at the moment) affect wether I'm interested in mods?
(I have been keeping my eyes on modding for quite some time and for a short while I tried a few smaller mods on ps3 (YES I'M AWARE IT WON'T BE AS MAGICAL AS PC M0DZ)

Yes, bf3. Once again. This isn't a debate on PC vs Console, I'm not even sure how you come to that conclusion. I already stated before I want to try PC gaming and that its better in terms of hardware.

Even if PSN comes on, I won't be going. God knows why you think that.

I was hoping to hear something useful, but just seems like mostly ignorant/ stupid comments or fanboy-ism
