Hi

Booted my pc a couple of days ago and though it detected my HDD's but it couldn't detect an OS and kept asking me to insert Windows CD. After playing with the cables I managed to get it to boot with one HDD installed. Then I shut down and reconnected with both HDD's and it now won't POST, boot into BIOS or Windows:(

Not sure how relevant the HDD part is (my WD KS has been making a lot of noise lately) but nothing works now. When I push the start button all the fans go at full speed and I get four red lights on the mobo. After consulting the manual it seems that it goes to three read lights after detecting a CPU (and then eventually goes to no red lights and boots). So maybe I've fried my CPU..

After reading some threads it seems that my 1337 psu is actually a scary beast (Hiper Type-R 580w), so this could be the cause of my woes. Though all the fans are running (be it at full speed) could my PSU have fried the CPU/mobo? I cannot find anyway of testing as I can't get into the BIOS. I have no spare PSU or CPU to test with either (I did give another PCI-E GFX card just in case, and tried with each stick of memory).

Should I get a new PSU or maybe CPU? Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks,
Cheesy.

Doesn't the LanParty Ultra-D have diagnostic LEDs on the mobo?

Can you see these LEDs, and if so, how many are lit up?

Its stays on four red LED's. I think the technical term for this is not allowed on these forums... I don't really want to go out and buy a new CPU if thats not the problem.

Would a PC boot to BOIS without a CPU?

Have you tried booting up without any HD's connected? (Remove both DATA and power cables from HD's)
Try reseting the CMOS and booting with the bare minimum ie Gfx, memory and CPU.

Yep. Tried with just CPU, CPU+Memory, CPU+Memory+GFX, CPU+Memory+HDD and also switching between memory sticks.

I tried reseting the CMOS but it doesn't seem to get anywhere near the BIOS.
