PC for 4 security cameras?

A friend of mine wants to set up some security cameras around a house he’s renovating. He’d like 4 cameras and a PC capable of recording around 2 weeks video of each camera. I have know idea as to what spec. of PC he’d need! Can anyone help?

I’ve seen cameras that operate over Lan (RJ45) so I assume this is the best way to go as he can integrate a network at a later date.

I can't recommend which cameras to get since I know nothing about them. But assuming he has a network capable of handling the load this should do:

Thats a decent spec but i would get 2 drives and mirror them.. Last thing you want is something to happen and the drive go down;...

That's exactly why I spec'd two drives.

Software mirroring would be more than plenty for the application. Presumably the cameras are of relatively low resolution so that the incoming data would be less than the maximum uncached write speed of the disks (60+ MiB/s).
