Hi,

I'm looking to build a PC that will allow me to edit GoPro videos (via GoPro Studio) and potentially play Battlefield 1. I already have the OS, SSD and monitors, keyboards, mice so it's just the rig itself.

I only have £600 to spend so I guess I wont be able to play Battlefield on full resolution but any help would be appreciated.

I've stolen this build from another thread, any good (think I may need a better GPU??):

1 x Gigabyte Z170-Gaming K3 - Intel Core i5 6600K Bundle **£10 Saving**= £280.98
1 x Kingston Fury Black 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C15 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (HX424C15FB2K2/1= £49.99
1 x OcUK Tech Labs - Pre Noise Dampened Case - NZXT Phantom 410 Midi-Tower Case - Black/Orange= £106.99
1 x be quiet! Dark Rock Advanced CPU Cooler= £46.99
1 x EVGA Supernova G2 650W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply= £86.99

Thanks

you wont be able to get very good performance in battlefield without a GPU, I would recommend saving a bit of money elsewhere and getting a gpu.
here is something to think about

Total: £601.85

You could get a better gpu if you cut more on the case/psu but this may be the sweet spot for you

Saved money on the case, power supply and motherboard. The cpu is not as good as the one that you posted but it should still be more than adequate in most cases (and it's overclockable). The mobo is really good value given new ones go for 100+ so you're saving at least 30 quid. The 1060 is FAR superior to the 460 in the above post, and will run most games 60fps/max settings/1080p just fine. All you need to add is a cpu cooler.

Thanks very much both, would the Skylake board and chip be a better future proof option?

Also doesnt the Intel Core i5-6400 come with a stock cooler??

Hopefully I can build on the PC once the wife lets me spend more money

All the cpus in this thread are skylake and yes they'd be the one to go for as it's intels newest socket (1151). You should be all set for a good long while. As far as I can tell it doesn't come with a stock cooler.

And I'd switch out the ram I picked with this as the motherboard doesn't support quad channel only dual channel.
