Hey Guys,

I formatted my Mum's PC last night, it had W7 32bit on it, I installed 64bit as it had 4gb of ram. Installed everything ok, rebooted and now it just freezes as soon as it turns on; Fujitsu Siemens - Press Del for setup. Can't press anything, can't get past the screen, like it's trying to boot from something else. I've unplugged everything, reset the cmos memory, tried it with 1 stick of ram in but no luck.

Anyone have any ideas?

If its a Fujitsu machine, then it probably has a Fujitsu hard-drive...which in my experience (working as a tech for 8years in a school) they are not the most reliable of drives, I would try running some HDD diagnostics from a boot CD or something

edit: if it freezes at the BIOS splash screen, put the drive into a dock or another machine to test it

It is probably looking for hardware drivers. Did the drive have a restore partition on it? Does it still? What model is it?

Thanks for the replies guys, I know pretty much nothing about PC mechanics; the HDD is a WD1600. I can't enter the BIOS at all, it literally just freezes on the first screen (which it used to do when my external HDD was plugged in to it - I had to unplug it before it started). Could you recommend a HDD diagnostic program for me to use? Thanks again. Oh, one last thing, the PC has a USB 2.0 card and 2 extra fans installed that didn't come with the PC, could that be the reason?
