What kind of games would you recommend for my dad to play. He has no gaming experience whatsoever.

Infact, when i was telling him about games today he said "Do they have sound and everything"...

Hes heard blokes at work talking about Call of Duty, his pc is of reasonable spec with a decent geforce in etc.

He says he wants to try something but doesnt know what.

I tried looking for my Company of Heroes game but i couldnt find it :(

I gave him supreme commander. I didnt like it, but he might lol

Any ideas?

Download some demos for him first, see if he can get used to them. My dad plays MoH:A and CoD4, so they might be worth a look :)

Erm ,start him off with either a shooter like COD4 which is easy to get into to, or a RTS like C&C, or perhaps a driving game :)

What are his hobbies, it will be much easier for him to get the hang of it if he can relate to it, i.e. if hes a racing car driver, im sure it can't be hard to pick up a steering wheel and be good at forza or something.

Maybe start him off with some Medal of Honour games or even half life 2 i expect they will run pretty good on any rig, Maybe some racing arcades like Test Drive.

I would however recommend a console rather than a PC, my dad steals my xbox all the time but wont touch the pc.

I think i went wrong by giving him sup comm lol.

It confused me so he will be lost right away lol .

I think he might like call of duty and stuff, but i aint got them :(

I forgot about Half life. I could maybe give him HL over steam.

is it not possible to give away half life one?

:)

Trials 2 Second Edition.

The only game my Dad has even a faint interest in...(played trackmania forever a bit actually).

Although he does sometimes stand there watching me play GTAIV, but just makes random disapproving noises... "Tsk", "The language, tut"... :D

Big no no with Sup Com

Medal of Honour or Half Life will be great starters, maybe C&C/Red Alert too.

Don't forget Tomb Raider, my Dad played the first one to death religiously :D

If he's got no experience, then start him off on some low-graphic classic stuff.

MOH:Allied Assault
Half-Life / Opposing Forces.

Then move him onto some newer stuff once he's got the hang of it all.

COD2/3/4 - My dad plays these as Benjo mentioned.
Half Life 2 would be good to play too, if he's done the first one.

Well honestly the last game my dad has played was probably Pong or something. No word of a lie :)

Ive been telling him that games now have epic storylines and millions of quid spent on them.

He seems intrigued.

I think Half Life is actually a great choice. I absolutely bloody loved it and it was the first game i ever got on my PC

Well, I am a dad and have a daughter who is 18 and a son who is 14 and I play an awful lot of games. Grid is my favorite at present. I usually perfer a FPS though. Although, if it is the first time at playing games (surely not?), then I suggest something simple and addictive at first, like Peggle or Bejewled. Move on to the fast hand/eye stuff later, once he is used to using a computer and playing a game.
