PC Game Prices

Console games are more expensive because the console makers claw back some cash off the games as they usually make a loss on the consoles. P.C games are actually harder to make because of the spectrum of P.C specs they have to run on.
Sold my 360 because of the price differance of games and better game selection. :D

PC games are probly cheaper due to the fact that companies can release a game that's a half assed product and just patch it later. Or the fact that they can be pirate downloaded.

The latter.

i think games are cheaper on the pc because of the rampant piracy. games have to be cheap and have a strong multiplayer element to get people to buy. simple as that. :)

Exactly, piracy is a great thing for us consumers. Companies know that if they produce a crap game, people will just pirate them in the future.

Transformers The Game £24.99
Overlord £24.99
Rugby 08 £24.99
Tiger Woods 08 £24.99

Don't want any of them so haven't looked :p

I have Crysis+Bioshock package on preorder for 26 quid. 13 quid each. PC games really are amazing bargains, but it IS offset by the ridiculous hardware demands.

Bearing in mind the price of console games, I'd have to agree with the OP. It's one of the things that makes PC gaming great.

WTF. MSN, Now. :p

prices are good but the general quality/longevity of games is going down and has been for a few years. £20 is about right in my opinion but i'd willingly pay £40-£50 for a really good game.

what happened to games like tribes - a featureless target (body arms legs and a head) to aim at but so full of team gameplay it doesnt matter what the gfx are like? less gfx and more gameplay please devs.

In real terms, PC Games are dirt cheap. I remember when I first started gaming in 1993. Amiga games were going for around £30 retail in Smithies while PC Games (such as F14 Fleet Defender) were around £45. If you went to the mail order catalogue companies like the now defunct Special Reserve you could save £7 - £10 but had to buy a subscription first.

When Wing Commander III came out in 1995 ISTR the RRP being £50.

These days, it's only M$ who seem to charge that much for their games, but even then there are plenty of discounts.

The most annoying feature of expensive console games is that you get them home and find, a. There's nothing to them, or b. They've been made so hard that it's impossible to get beyond the first level unless you're some super-human, nimble fingered uber-nerd!

I got a brand new sealed Doom3 expansion pack for 99p from a bargain bin :D

Thats the reason i pretty much gave up on consoles to expensive and cant mod the games as such, plus mouse an kb own pads all day :D

It's why I've held off on a 360. As much as I want one, I've found console gaming to be very expensive - and it's getting worse.
