If anyone thinks PC gaming is waning then they are seriously wrong.

Age Of Conan developers Funcom have said they have shipped 700,000 copies to retailers & sold out 110,000 copies of the special edition and have to press a 2nd batch to meet demand.

"Everyone in Funcom is delighted and humbled with the historical pre-order numbers for Age of Conan," said Morten Larssen, Funcom's sales and marketing boss.

"If the information we have is correct, they represent the highest pre-order number for any global launch of an original PC game, ever, including the original World of Warcraft launch."

Waning.

1: to decrease in size, extent, or degree : dwindle: as a: to diminish in phase or intensity —used chiefly of the moon, other satellites, and inferior planets b: to become less brilliant or powerful : dim c: to flow out : ebb

2: to fall gradually from power, prosperity, or influence

:p

so what hes trying to say is anyone whinging about PC gaming dying is infact shrinking, becoming less powerful, really sucks and is a inferior planet? :D i love it :)

In the next 6 weeks alone the PC has:

Alone in The Dark 5
Lego Indiana Jones
GRID
AOC
Mass Effect
Devil May Cry 4
Lost Planet Colonies
Flat Out Ultimate Carnage

Most of which are out on consoles, which is the problem. There is a lack of new games coming to the pc which havent been console games first

Sorry, but I struggle to see the problem. If a game is good it doesn't matter where its from.

All of which are enhanced on the PC so it is the best version to get.

If you want amazing new games on the PC then someone needs to persuade all the PC gamers who rely on buggy pre-release torrents to actually buy the game to prevent their expensive hardware from becoming obsolete when their piracy makes it pointless to support the superior gaming platform that the PC truly is.

Console ports are here to stay as it saves dev money to go multiplatform. The upside of this is that titles which previously were console only are now coming to the PC. The PC lost its position as the no1 choice as a gaming platform due to the constant piracy. In the past year if it were not for console ports then the PC would have even less releases!

If you're saying multiplatform titles don't count then consoles get just as few games as PC, maybe less. A lot of PC games go to console and a lot of console games go to PC, it's always been this way.

Definitely less if you count, freeware, mods, casual games and flash games.

But the problem is I think more and more gamers are owning both a console (or more than one) and a PC. Personally I have a 360 and PC and it doesn't matter if the game is better, I'll have already played it to death on 360. I love gaming on PC but I wish there were more unique titles or at least simultaneous release dates with the consoles.

Lots of people have always owned both, not a new phenomenon at all. For me, i've decided to "rough it out" with the pc, prefer my games to stay out of my living room tbh. As for unique titles, we've had Stalker, Crysis, Sins of a Solar Empire, to name but a few. And don't forget, we're the home to The Sims:eek::D

Still, we're not here to argue about formats, just that the PC is by no means dead, dying, slacking off, receding, decreasing or whatever. It will always be where the main innovation is, it will always have the greatest graphics available, and it will always have this same, boring question pointed at it.

Quite looking forward to The Witcher (super duper upgraded version) but there's no reason why it wouldn't work on a console. In fact - there's little fundamental reason why PC and console gaming should be different.

Most of the games I've been playing recently are console ports - Assassin's Creed, Call of Juarez, Bioshock, Oblivion... The only games I play regularly that aren't available on console are strategy games like the Total War (still playing a long Rome Campaign but I have Madieval 2 waiting in the wings) series and Company of Heroes.
