*** PC Gaming - Daily Deals Thread ***

Got an email from them with my activation keys, better late than never.

The only problem is I had already bought Doom 3 BFG elsewhere after being dissapointed in their service. Emailed them asking for a refund for the price of Doom 3 as I wont be needing the key. Have activated Skyrim and Dishonored fine.

Bought so far;

Crysis Pack from steam for £8 on steam lightning deal yesterday
Counter Strike pack from steam for £8.40
Doom 3 BFG Edition £7.50 at green man
Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY & Arkham City GOTY for roughly £3 each on amazon US
Dead Island GOTY for £7.50 at green man
Skyrim & Dishonored for around £7.50 each at gamefly
Skyrim Heartfire and Dawnguard £8.72 for both on steam
Hard Reset for £2.50 on green man
Aliens vs Predator for £2.50 on amazon US
Metro 2033 for around £6 on amazon US

:)

How did you get dishonored down to £7.50 at gamefly? The best I see is 20% off code and 10% quidco/topcashback which brings it down to just under £11.

^^Dunno if I'm being thick but I couldn't find some of those Microsoft store games e.g. Diablo 3

edit: Prices are also different in the GB store e.g. Forza Horizon is $14.99 in US vs £49.99 here.

Word of warning about Spec Ops I'm playing it at the moment and while the story seems OK it is an extremely blatant console port. The tips come up with XB360 buttons so for some of the weirder controls you keep having to dip into the controls menu to find out what key you need to press. Even worse, some of the commands aren't even listed so you have to guess which key they are shared with (e.g. attaching silencers).

That in itself would be just about acceptable but the moment I picked up a sniper rifle I was puking my guts up in disgust. Not only is the sensitivity CRAZY high using a mouse but it also ignores my invert mouse setting making it totally un-intuitive trying to aim. The combination of 99999999999999x zoom (meaning unless you are perfectly lined up before zooming, you end up zoomed in on a wall, randomly panning round for 10s+ looking for your target), broken Y-axis (meaning it takes a couple of goes to lineup even when you get them on your screen) and stupid sens (make that several passes as 0.00000001mm mouse movement swings your aim by 10m on screen) basically made it a totally unenjoyable experience. It's that bad, that in sniper sections I don't even bother picking up the handily positioned sniper rifle now, I just use an M4A1....

Me neither. Searched for Diablo and "no results found".

I know this isn't the point but have you tried using a pad? Might be worth it to get some enjoyment out of the game. When shall we be free of these ****e ports whyyyyyyyy.......(furiously shaking my hand at the sky)

I've just been playing it with a pad from the beginning which isn't giving me much hassle. I think the game looks damned good, and runs perfectly considering it's obviously a quick port.

I too have just skipped the sniper rifle sections due to the ridiculous zoom. M4A1 with silencer is good enough for those sections.

The thing that really stands out with this game is the story... constant twists and turns, surprises at every corner. Really digging it myself.

Whats the 25% off code for GMG atm?
Fancy the doom 3 pack

EDIT: GMG25-G4VDR-0ZL4Q

LOL the site never works properly at work :(

Does Doom 3 run properly now and allow full res changes?

Agreed, by the end of it (no spoilers of course) I was extremely impressed with what it had done, not only as a game itself, but also to make all other military shooters look thoroughly immature and shallow by comparison.

That's not to say that all games should lay on the morals and ethics of conflict all the time, but I enjoyed seeing a completely different side of war. Games are frequently thought of as not being able to deal with concepts like that, and I think Spec Ops proved otherwise. Just a shame that the people responsible for marketing didn't feel the same.

just got Far Cry 3 for 24.50 at GMG, only thing i dont like is that it hasnt given me the key for it yet, but says the games released on the 29th and all keys will be made available then

So i assume i just wait and download it on the day, meaning no pre-load?

hope theres no issue with keys getting out to people.

i assume i need to install uplay

Never had a problem getting the keys from GMG. Usually in time to pre-load as well. The only one that came right on the wire was XCOM which was about thirty minutes before midnight.
