Unfortunately your right :(

Bought PoP - forgotten sands via steam and although it goes through steam, it still links to uplay and loads up the platform to integrate and bind to your uplay account. What a weird way to distribute it.

What the point of Steam doing it then??

Well I went for it. Steam says no. "Sorry but the following items are not available for purchase in this country. Your purchase has been cancelled". I probably could have researched that a bit better and found out it wouldn't activate before I gave amazon the money. So if anyone else is thinking about the Dead Island deal, steam wont let you activate it.

Just to check, you got the key from them and then tried to activate it on steam?

It's strange as I have activated many products from the US store and they all activate and work fine. Same with Origin.

If I'd seen this earlier I would have flagged a warning. I'm not aware of any others but it's widely known that dead island on amazon US is region locked.
 
Never bought a game from gamersgate before. Just downloaded a couple of exe for Assassin's Creed Reveleation.. I take it like uplay, it a downloader which then give you the install.

Didnt get any game keys though??

Library tab on the left >select the game the key should appear on the right when you are logged in on gamersgate.

I was lucky and just finished Fallout 3 as New Vegas went on the Steam sale at Christmas.

I've not played anything else since except the odd hour on Far cry 3 and only finished the main quest last weekend.

Best single player game I've played, even better than Fallout 3 IMO, which I didn't think was possible.

Now for the addon's :)
