*** PC Gaming - Daily Deals Thread ***

Serves them right in my opinion... Annoys the heck out of me people trying to profit from things all the time...

We've got it so good gaming on PC these days with all the humble-bundles and sites, and Steam sales, why go and sour it by buying a humble bundle for less than £1 and then sticking all the games from it on an auction site for £5 each... Or hoard copies of a game when on sale with the expectation of selling them on for a higher price later

I agree with reselling humble bundle keys since they potentially preventing charities from getting money. But it annoys me that some people consider that making money is a dirty or evil thing to do. Guess what? Every retailer in the land buys goods at a cheap rate and sells them for more for profit. Why do you get annoyed by normal people having a bit of business sense, rather than relying on someone else to give them a wage or benefits?

I guess it's more when those people run up against obvious measures put in place to prevent it from happening and then cry about it like it's totally unreasonable...

I don't really understand the people complaining about the ES games, Tomb Raider alone is worth £5. Also most of you admit you 'took a gamble' you can't really complain if it didn't work out, that's what a gamble is - win some, lose some.

If Bulletstorm comes up cheap, grab it. I didn't think much of the demo, which I played ages ago, but I started playing the full game yesterday for a bit of no-effort gaming. Set it on Easy, let the cheesy story roll, and had a surprising amount of fun. Looks pretty good too.

Wow your actually buying a game for once :D

He won't be buying anything if he expects Skyrim Legendary Edition to be £5! lol

Lowest I've seen it is £9.99 and the base game for £3, both deals for Steam keys and both have since expired. I suspect it will be around £10.19 like the last sale.

I didn't have any of them, and was about to buy Tomb Raider when I read about the box. So I guess I win :D.

It's the current Community Choice, so £3.74 until 18:00 UK...

Because they lied, you can get most the games for £1 infact thats how I already own two of them, the other two were bundled with pc components and frequently see them in MM cheap. It was a dirty trick and im afraid if you don't own any or think it was a good offer then your in the minority.

They lied about nothing, they said you'd get 4 games worth £50+ RRP and that's exactly what you got. You didn't have to buy it, you knew there would be a chance you'd get stuff you already had. The value of the games was based on the RRP not the "cheapest price it's ever been on the Internet". Taken right from the page you bought it from:

The Square Enix Christmas Surprise is an incredible holiday assortment packed full of games worth over £50 (RRP or equivalent) - available for a limited time only exclusively to the Square Enix Store.

Is it worth buying Papers, Please at 50% or is it likely to be higher in the daily deals?

Edit: It's £3.15 in the Humble Store, for anyone else who was thinking of getting it.

I'm struggling to see how they lied? I don't feel cheated in any way and I already own everything in that box. Everyone knew it was a risk going in, and although I wish something I needed was included, I certainly don't feel entitled to anything.

If by lied to you mean they had a "with contents value of £x" message up, then you are hopelessly naive if you thought the lowest recorded sale value of those games would add up to the advertised RRP. Since when do people agree that the RRP is a fair representation of the products worth these days?

Barring one or two anomalies, the flash/community choice/daily deal prices are the same. £3.49 is a great price for the game anyway, so have fun!

Thanks, been waiting for this to come up for a while. Now its come on sale i'm debating whether to buy it or not....

It's worth £4 so I'd say go for it as I doubt it'll be much cheaper if at all, not sure on the deluxe but £1 more for what you get seems nice. The only issue I had with the game was the amount of running back and forth but if you like exploring then you won't mind it.

Perhaps not bareface lie but certainly a clever marketing strategy. Good way to shift a few more copies (there is as you know an unlimited supply) of games that are already way past their peak selling point and even well past their peak discount selling point. Its another technique for selling something that nobody wants....enticing the customer into buying on the idea or possibility (it is after all a Christmas Surprise!!! and maybe they will be very generous at Christmas!! :D ) that it is a BARGAIN and that something they want (e.g. a FF game, Thief even) will be in the surprise bundle.

Key to this tactic are the fact its christmas....its a surprise bundle ie you dont know whats in it...combined with the possibility that some good more recent games from their catalogue could be in it!!!!(the fact that other online places have very very good christmas sales) and ohh yeah its Christmas! :p Who would dare skimp on gifts at Christmas

When in reality its just a a cheap ploy...but imo actually harms Square Enix reputation in the long run. Whoever dreamt this up made a mistake and needs to focus better on the long game rather than quick Christmas "sale" cash ins.

Thanks. Just watching a couple of playthrough videos to see if its really what i fancy playing.
