Haven't played either Fallout 3 or NV

Is 3 considerably better?

Is the DLC worth buying?

They are both absolutely excellent and different in their own ways. For me, Fallout 3 was more in line with the previous Fallout games (with the character being a vault dweller) but in all honesty you shouldn't pass on either.

The DLCs are a bit of a mixed bag from what I've played. If I remember rightly they are stand alone adventures rather than being mixed into the full game and map and once you start the DLC you are stuck in it until you've finished it, I didn't like that aspect of it, but they are good enough to give a go, especially at the prices they are asking.

I've played over 200 hours of 3,and 300 of new Vegas and tbh I couldn't imagine playing 3 again! It is incredibly simple compared to NV. 3 is very good, but New Vegas is a lot more in keeping with the old games, and has levels of complexity that makes 3 look like a fan made mod

I played NV and 3, preffered 3, NV just seemed too much like more of the same after playing 3. I guess if you want the most for your money though NV is the way to go.

+1 for New Vegas over here, I've played both, enjoyed 3 but as stated above NV is just mechanically a much improved game with a similar feel... not sure I particularly cared for the story of either game really (as with most of Bethesda's games the story is always far too thinly applied leaving things feeling very game-y throughout)

Just saw the fallout games on greenman and just couldn't resist, played them both years ago but for £8 for the two goy and ultimate had to :)
