only if you subscribe though isnt it.

You can unsubscribe immediately after receiving your key:

If you're looking for a cheap copy of ARK: Survival Evolved, look no further! Subscribe to the Humble Monthly Bundle, and you will receive your ARK Steam key immediately. You can then unsubscribe, but still receive the other five games at the beginning of March. A fantastic deal for £8!

It's best played with mates, at first around a month or so after launch the performance was abysmal. I haven't checked it in a while but hiopefully it's a lot better. Didn't even around to taming one dino.. The food and drink aspects get to me too much.

hmm just looked into this with the Humble Bundle offer then went to Steam to see the customer reviews and....

it showed 5 of the last reviews all with 400-1000 hrs play with a thumbs down!?!

Thats the problem with steam reviews, it should be a score out of ten rather than either thumb up or down. I'm sur if they had 1000 hours out of the game it cant be as bad as a red thumbs down would suggest.

Can tell you now it one of the best games I have ever played. The negativity is because it is Alpha release so when people ramp up the gfx settings they expecting everything to be fully optimised.

The content alone is what makes this shine :D

The negativity from the people with many hundreds of hours logged with the game appears to be either because there appears to be unbridled cheating with PvP or they are extremely unhappy with updates made by the devs to the game mechanics (or possibly both).

The negativity from people with only a couple of hours logged seems to be with the fact that the game as installed is stupidly unoptimised. I've just bought it following the info on here regarding the Humble Monthly deal and got about 12FPS (2700K @ 4.7 / 780Ti @ 1200). Fortunately I found this thread and the replacement ini files have seen my FPS jump to 70+ with graphics settings on Ultra. The Devs appear to be shooting themselves in the foot on several counts and garnering negative feedback as a result.

Edit: Just to keep things on topic I also bought Beyond Earth for £7.50 from DLGamer.

There is always going be cheating in many games, this is nothing new. Particularly in SOTF. It annoying but it doesn't put most people off. The content is never ending so in a way it is a good thing. Sometimes it good, sometimes not. But if it is that bad then why keep coming back and putting even more hours into it. I have played over a 1000+ hours, as well as played in the competitive scene, I can tell you the community is mostly pretty good. So the negativity is in the minority, particularly those that have barely scratch the surface. So give it a chance before you deprive yourself of the experience.

As I said the gfx Optimisation could be better but the gameplay and variety of content alone is what makes it shine. As I stressed it still Alpha. Most have made it work with a little tweaking so not a huge problem imo.
