Is AA best one to get or AC goty?

They're both very good but I think most people agree that AA overall is just slightly better (depending on what you value)

At any rate if you've not played either definitely start with AA - if you like that then AC is just more of the same with a few extra mechanics and a bigger open world tacked on

Having played all 3 to death i'll give you my take. AA was the one that started it and showed that, yes, you can actually make a great officially licenced game. The combat was a revelation - having that simple to pick up feeling but also a lot of depth when you got good. It's by far the most linear of the series and as a result probably has the best plot, but don't expect to be able to do much soaring around.

AC stripped away the confines and allowed you to fly around to your heart's content. The combat evolved to silky smooth, multi-gadget using perfection and gave you Catwoman to play as (although in far too small chunks, and the game doesn't really create enough environments to take advantage of her skills). The down side was in giving you an open 'world' the story was all over the place and seemed more of an excuse to get you to meet a who's who of Batman's supervillains gallery.

AO is by far the most devisive. It's an obvious cash-grab by WB, derivative, less refined. But the most disappointing thing is that the city feels transparently fake and the much vaunted detective mode is more superficial than Paris Hilton. With all that said there's a more Nolan-esque, darker, grittier feel to the game witch extends to the combat, which is less comic-booky and far more brutal which I like.

Overall I'd say AC is my favourite, but at these prices I'd get them all - certainly AA and AC and then decide if you're all Batmanned out before getting AO.

AA=Superb classic game
AC=Less of the above but still a decent game

AO=Shovelware cash-in until the true Rocksteady sequel comes in Oct (Arkham Knight)

Shovelware lmao.. what a load of complete tosh. It's the best one of the three, if you like City you cannot dislike it unless you just want to jump on the bandwagon with all the 'k'ool kids. Granted it hasn't improved or changed anything over City but saying it's bad... and even going as far as to say it's shovelware!? LOL. Get a grip man.

From people's descriptions of it I'm sort of expecting something a bit like Bioshock 2 - you know it's not quite the same developer and may not live up to the main series in every way, but if you like the series and enjoy the gameplay then it's totally playable and can be enjoyed for what it is while you wait for the next proper title in the series

Spot on. You can be disappointed at the lack of further development - but it seems nonsensical to say it's a much worse game, when it's so similar.

Maybe better to think of it as an expansion of AC, or a new level or something.
