Is the patched Aliens Colonial Marines much improved post release, or is it still as bad as indicated by the initial reviews?
Its much better than the reviews & backlash but you need to fix somethings to ensure the GPU gets selected properly then its a reasonable FPS with decent Unreal Engine 3 gfx & sound plus 2 of the main actors from Aliens (Michael Biehn & Lance Henriksen).

I only paid £3.75 for it last week but its worth the current £14.99 so anything less is a bargain the backlash is a little unfair as its solid & reasonable.

anyone know where i can pick up a cheap copy of NFS rivals?? not paying 20 bangers for that game from ea
Its not worth much I paid full price for it back on release its one of the worse NFS games ever gameplay wise & graphically not as good as NFS The Run (which uses the same game engine).

NFS Rivals on PC is fantastic, the graphics are fast and fluid (albeit with a locked frame-rate) and it's a great arcade racing game.

Maybe your getting confused with NFS Hot Pursuit on PC ? which I agree was truly dire.

Aliens Colonial Marines should be wiped from history as one of THE worst efforts ever released !!

Hyperbole aside, I bought Aliens CM for about £3 a while back and I felt cheated.

I didn't follow any of the pre-release media and so didn't have any ruined expectations, it just didn't manage to do anything right.

The AI is a joke, with enemies that can't fight their way out of a wet paper bag. (Seriously, why throw in so many human grunts as enemies in an ALIENS game?)The aliens when you do run across them finally, will either be so intent on killing you that they clip through the scenery, or they will run halfway around the map and double back on themselves several times to try and reach you because the path finding is that bad.

The scripted set pieces don't work correctly every time due to poor scripting, and the gunplay is unsatisfying to say the least.

Don't get me wrong, there are worse games out there. But I can't think of a single element other than the setting and monsters that the game does competently, and that's only because the work was already done for them by the films.

I last played in September, so it could have changed slightly since then, but there was little to no post release work done on it in the short period after it was released, let alone this far down the line. So I have no reason to think that my "review" is outdated.

Vampire: Bloodlines the Masquerade on Steam, today sale only for £3.74.

If you've never played it, I can highly recommend it! If you can live with the early source-engine build graphics, it's an awesome piece of RPG storytelling and has some extremely dark themes and storylines. It deserves an 18 rating!

And if you want to enjoy the game as it actually should have been finished, try one of the many fan-made patches, such as this:

People seriously need to know about this game, it's absolutely fantastic, yet it goes under peoples radar for a multitude of reasons ("vampire" might put some people off, and the fact that it was release on the same day as HL2), but it just does so many things right, despite all the bugs/glitches which somewhat can plague the experience just a little, as well as the somewhat dated graphics, but both of these problems can be ironed out for a much better experience by using community made mods and patches.

£3.75 thanks a lot WB I paid £14.99 for this a few weeks ago its already heavily discounted  its an excellent 2.5D game though with about 40 hours worth of gameplay to fully 100% it!

Grab it quick it maybe a pricing mistake acording to others they threw it into a Batman sale on Uplay but its most likely going to get a price hike as it only been out a few weeks on Steam for £14.99 (which I paid for it) they do not usually offer such great discounts within a few weeks!
