It will work fine :). For single games Steam only uses the code if you don't already own the game, not sure what would happen if you tried a bundle code and already owned all the games.
 
got the sega pack, but its not actually adding the items to steam as far as i can tell, ive redeemed, if i try again it says for example, toejam and earl is already redeemed, but only shows sega genesis pack i got ages ago from the sonic bundle.

Confused.

they all show if i view dlc on the genesis game, but nothing is installing? lol

update2: steam is having a spazfit and is doing it now i think.

Everything goes into the Sega Genesis Pack launcher on Steam. Just run that and the games should be there

I had that message as well but could access the game key pretty much instantly
 
twood: I did, took a couple of restarts for steam to kick itself into downloading them! works now all there :)

also just got an email:
