PC Gaming Hardware Arguments!?

mech boards vs rubber domes, ips vs tn vs etc, go to 4chan /g/ and see debian vs gentoo vs arch vs any other distro or a battle of who can have the most tweaked config for a tiling window manager, whether its worth upgrading old hardware vs moving to newer platforms, buying used vs new, best mouse debates, fan debates, **** pretty much any hardware will be debated until the end of time :p

I remember pre-internet days the accepted wisdom was that 27 FPS was the optimum on a CRT. of course the 486 and 3dfx of the day couldn't do much more...

I think the prevailing argument is generally determined by what is available, and what can be achieved. not necessarily what is right, or wrong.

The most recent shift I have noticed is sentiment re sli/crossfire. it used to be argued as fairly essential for high res and good FPS, now as single gpu cards have progressed (amazingly) is argued as unsupported and generally frowned on...

how about:
cherry mx brown vs red
optical vs laser mouse
touchscreen vs non-touchscreen monitor
firefox vs chrome vs edge vs [other insert browser of choice]

Crossfire or sli has always been pants for the money, apart from the occasionaly brief neiche ..there's been the odd dual gpu card too but still..

Anyone remember BFG and their awesomeness?

That card was without a doubt the worst GPU purchase I ever made. Came from a 8800GTX exepcted improvements in crysis and FC2. Got micro stutter in crysis and a minimum frame rate in FC2 of 9 fps when a single 8800GT would push over 20 fps min..

Whether or not you are a multi GPU fan, SLI/crossfire on a single card is always a bad idea.
