PC Gaming is not dieing right?

I just had a massive debate with my friend about why PC gaming is not dieing but he just seems so adamant that it is because of this stupid video (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/vid...re/2911-PC-Gaming-Is-Dead-Long-Live-PC-Gaming).

I said that 'all' FPS is superior with with M+K and he just disagreed with no reason. It's really annoying me because I know that PC gaming is actually on the increase because of Digital downloads and the increase in PC exclusives and just the graphics superiority.

I enjoy playing my Xbox but I still think the PC is better and it definitely is not 'dieing' from all of the stats I've seen lately.

Has the OCUK community got any opinions or arguments towards this argument and the ridiculous video?

What was the point of the thread? You know the answer you will get if you're asking a PC GAMING COMMUNITY if PC gaming is dying.

OCUK are usually pretty good at getting stats and valid arguments. That is all, he just didn't have any valid points when he argued with me

The guy in that video is everything he complains about, all the stuff he's coming out with is pretty much crap designed as an argument as to why PC gaming is rubbish. He's the console equivalent of the PC defenders he's complaining about, and I can't take anything he's saying seriously.

This pretty much sums it up and yes I know this type of thread has popped up like 1million times but I wanted more opinions on the video than the actual subject.

Im not using OCUK as my own personal army you're all anons to me I just like having a less bias conversation thats all. Doesn't help that all of my friends are Xbox fan boys

Hate to point this out. But posting on a forum full of die hard PC gamers doesn't really reduce bias.

Ive seen a lot of people on this forum that have a PC and console so its not that 'bias'.

Like myself I've had all current generation consoles and my PC. I like both but it really depends on the game genre.

I seriously think consoles will either have to go or be updated soon because hey are seriously holding back gaming advancement.

There's plenty of great innovative games still being made. But the majority, lazy developer (usually driven by a greedy publisher) cutting corners to make a quick buck on a fool proof tried and tested idea, are the real problem.

Great point.

Seeing as my goal is to become a game designer I've always liked these type of comments they give you a great idea of what the public want. For example Amnesia is a great game and its a fresh idea and only 5 people made it, thats what is amazing about it. But companies like EA are destroying franchises all the time. C&C and now Crysis (maybe) its just slightly annoying on the consumer level.

I want to see some more games like Amnesia which are actually finished products.

i've watched the video and disagree with most of what he is saying especially that fps's are now the domain of consoles.

as far as i know the battlefield stats site automatically registers every player on every system and tracks their stats so you can tell just how many people are playing bad company 2 which is one of the biggest and most popular fps's.

as you can see the number of pc users is almost bang in the middle of ps3 and xbox 360 users but the amount of people actually playing the game on the pc is around 40% higher than the ps3 and around 80% higher than the xbox 360 and there is not far off double the amount of servers available for the pc compared to either the ps3 or xbox 360.

so it looks to me that the person who made the video has it completely wrong that consoles have overtook the pc for playing fps's.
