Problem is as Title, however if I hold F5 on startup and then select the option 'last known working configuration, then it boots as normal.

Does anyone know what the problem is and things I can do to work towards solving this? I have run a full virus scan and nothing came up as a fault.

Thanks

Using Windows...? I'd say it's possibly a driver issue causing it to hang. I would enable verbose booting, and then look to see what it's loading just as it hangs. What about booting in Safe Mode? Does that work? If so, you can disable whichever driver is causing the problem.

Have a look here for how to enable verbose booting... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325376

Thanks for your help, it's XP Pro. I recently installed new graphics card drivers for my 1800XT so it's a possibility that it's that?
