I came back from work today and I was excited to plug in my freshly serviced cx48 oled (changed panel) only to find that my pc was being extremely sluggish. Even opening a folder is taking forever... So I ran a quick userbenchmark to get a general idea of what's happening and this is what I bumped into

https://i.ibb.co/TLqgfHC/Untitled.jpg

I already tried:
1)Uninstalling/reinstalling chipset/sata/gpu/nvme drivers.

2) Safe mode

3)Updating bios/optimized defaults

4)Unplugging all devices

5)Unplugging UPS and plugging power supply directly to wall

So before I go about unplugging internal components or re-installing windows, does anyone have any idea of what might have happened here?

Checked in device manager/performance
For programs with excessively high disk usage?

No sign of any files getting encrypted?
IE ransomware attack

Try a live usb windows or Ubuntu etc
If they're ok at least you can rule out hardware issue

There is no sign of disk usage while on idle. I think there is an issue with the pcie lanes. Either the mobo itself or something in the gpu has crapped out and causing problems.

First I will reinstall windows to rule that out, but I'm not very hopeful. It will be a fun new years eve lol

Hopefully it's just windows messing around mate
Stuff like this is why I have a second hard drive
With basic windows installed
To double check with
I also have a load of macrium images
So can load one of those in literally couple of minutes
To a time I knew everything worked
But yeah sometimes it's just faster to reinstall windows
Than try to figure out the problem

Good news. Fresh windows install and everything is back to normal which begs the question... What could have caused such a problem rendering the system almost unusable? I guess the lesson learned is to make system restore points which I never do.

At least it was only windows playing up
System restore isn't that reliable
Since it's part of Windows it might not have worked anyway
From personal experience it falls quite a lot to restore
I make image backup with macrium
Those can be stored independent of the operating system
And restored from boot menu, windows or usb
