On the back of the pc 1 x card has 2 x DVI. So i can can connect a dvi - HDMI lead to one of the slots and my monitor is displayed on my 32" tv. All good so far.

However, I have looked on the back of the PC and there is a HDMI slot. So i have removed the dvi - HDMI cable and added a HDMI - HDMI cable (pc to TV) but i get "No video signal".

Any ideas where i am going wrong?

Are you on correct TV channel. I have hdmi1-tv, hdmi2- xbox 360. Then others like, pc & AV1 ect.

checked ccc and i don't think it can even see the tv :(

Is there any reason the HDMI slot would be disabled on my pc? If so, how to i enable it?

(the vga slot was)

Think the setting on the 'Display Options' tab might be set to 'manual detection...'. Could change that or go into the 'Desktop Displays' tab & hit 'Detect Displays'

Had a problem with mates laptop hdmi. We got pic but no sound, & a setting fixed that. (cant remember what we did ! )

Right............update, as you can see by the specs i have a graphics card which has 2 x DVI outputs and 1 x svideo output.

The HDMI output is onboard and has therefore been disabled in the BIOS due to the possible conflict between the card and the onboard.

Can i re-enable the HDMI, is it worth it as it will bypass the graphic accelerator etc?

Bugger..........!!

Why do it? The DVi-HDMI dongle on the add-in GPU works, why fix what ain't broke?

You might be able to get both onboard and addin card working if there is a BIOS option to have integrated VGA as the 'primary' VGA, as opposed to disabling it. But I don't see why you would bother, seeing as you have a working HDMI output on the add-in GPU anyway.

Just trying to follow the logic here, that's all.

i currently have 1 x audio cable pc - tv and 1 x cable pc dvi - tv. If i could do HDMI - HDMI, i could lose a cable and have better quality audio and picture.

I can't get the audio to come through the tv with this set up and so have sound coming through my PC 5.1 surround sound kit.

That's my thinking anyway!

can't see it as on a works pc and it's blocked. But i bought a DVI - HDMI convertor.
Pic's just of the same thing.

EDIT: HDMI is essentially DVI with sound i.e. quality is the same & you should have sound. Running latest GFX/mobo/Windows/etc drivers?

Why do you want to use on-board graphics via the HDMI port when you're fine using the DVI port of your dedicated graphics card?

You should be able to get sound through the DVI -> HDMI adapter too, providing you attach the S/PDIF input on the graphics card to the S/PDIF socket on the motherboard using the provided cable (assuming you got one with your card like I did).

bugger that was a waste of £10 then for the HDMI - HDMI cable :(

OK then, if i keep using the DVI-HDMI connection how can i get audio through the TV?

The TV is a Toshiba Regza 32AV615DB 32-inch Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV with Freeview

No competitor links

OK, i have read that DVI - HDMI is video only, no sound.

Can you explain a bit more what you are getting at? The card in my pc has 2 x dvi outputs and a round connector between the 2 (not sure what the round connector can be used for)

The card is:

1GB ATi HD4850 Graphics accelerator - DVI, DirectX 10.1 PCI Express 2
