So i have the following rig -

3770k OC'd to 4.2GHz @ 1.24v (delidded) (was OC'd to 4.6 @ 1.28v)
Asus Z77 Maximus V Gene Intel Z77
16gb of 2400MHz gskillz tridantx
corsair 650w AX psu
6580 sapphire 1GB gpu
samsung 128Gb SSD (primary disc)
ocz 60GB SSD (scratch disc)
WD 2TB HDD

So recently when i switch on my PC nothing happens for a few seconds then i kicks into life, this has gradually turned to not turning on at all.
I had it OC'd to 4.6 @ 1.28v which is very mild i think, my CPU is delidded and a corsair h100 keeps it very cool.

So yesterday it would not turn on, i opened it up and the lights were on on the mobo for the XB S-Fi MB 2 integrated sound card so i know its getting power, i then stripped out the PC and removed the battery, i checked the CPU and cleaned it, reapplied the tim, checked the socket, it all looked 100%, no scorching or anything.

I then put the power leeds back on, the battery and one stick of ram only, i tried to turn it on and nothing so i swapped ram modules, nothing!

So by this point i thought my CPU must be fried....... Oh no it wasn't! I put my PC back together and thought i would try it one more time and it fired up, by this point i thought it must have been a corrupt OC?

So this time all i did was up the multi to 4.2 and left everything well alone, while testing the volts only hit 1.24 which is fine.

All day i was using my PC, switching it off and on again with no dramas, but this morning i woke up switched it on and it lagged again, from switching it on to it firing up a good 5 seconds passed?

What could be wrong with my PC?:confused::confused:

many thanks Buzz

the thing is though when my pc isn't switching on the lights are on on the mobo? surely i couldn't be the PSU?

look in the sticky for general hardware and do the psu test with paperclip and one fan plugged in and see if you get a result. I had same issue except computer just didn't turn on one day but still mobo light on. Did the test and psu didn't fire so rma'ed it. How old is your psu ? many warranties can be up to 5 years if it's a named brand. Mine was a Corsair. Died 2.5 years after purchase.

riddle me this, i pulled everything out, gpu, ram, battery, cables...... played blops2 for an hour...... put everything back in (like i did yesterday) and now it works?

it seems to work once the cmos and ram mem are clear... could it be the mobo or ram?

ty for all your comments and help with this, i really appreciate it :)

ok so ive updated my BIOS, i was on 1301 its now on 1802 O_o

**edit**

since updating the BIOS it is starting up faster, and the OS is less laggy, could the BIOS do that?

oh and i have started it up and shut it down countless times and its like new ?:/ ??????

Probably a warning from asus ai suite, not a great program tbh as it often throws up false errors. Stock vccsa is 0.950 on asus boards iirc.

ty setter, so i have an oc profile from my ram which i am not using, my pc is running fine with just a cpu oc, i think its a faulty ram module, but i cant remember where i bought it from?

i dont trust the asrock boards either ;)

well back from beach and it was slow to start :( i have removed all OC's now and im going to the pub...... if its slow to start again then i will look at changing some components
