I recently built a PC for my kids, it was working fine for first 3-4 days but yesterday my eldest said he was playing fornite and the pc just turned off, previously he has played the game for over 3hrs with out any issue. The same thing happened today where he booted up the game and then was playing for a bit then the PC just turned off.
PC specs: AM4 3600, 5700xt, with a 750W PSU. I am guessing maybe it is CPU temps going to high, could the CPU paste have like moved due to it being a new build?

What software can i run to check to see if it is the CPU temps?

Cheers

HWMonitor is a good tool.

I had a similar thing recently and was pulling my hair out.

Swapped out the RAM and GPU from my old machine to test. Re-pasted the CPU...

Had the case open just looking at it to try and just fathom what was going on.

Happened to brush the power cable that goes between PSU and MB and it shut down. Literally left thinking that when the fans started blowing on intensive games it would ever so slightly move the power cable and off the machine went!

Swapped out the cable concerned and not had an issue since.

If the PC was overheating should it show in the event. Viewer?

It's only seems to be turning off during fortnite, but on the first couple days he played for 3hrs with no issues.

I have run a gpu & cpu stress test software and nothing happened

I might just reload windows on it
