please help,
i am running
asus p5nd motherboard
q6600 processor
2gb ram
280gtx bfg oc
22 inch monitor
800w psu
750gb hd

i can play cod4 for anything form 2 min to 30 mins then pc just shuts down...
i have update bios for the board and running on 0701.
the pc seems stable just running normally probs just when i start up online game..

I was getting a similar problem with an Asus P5N-T Deluxe motherboard, it wasn't shutting down, but was blue screening and required a hard reset. I updated the BIOS and that seems to have fixed the problem.

May be worth a try.

is it only cod4 thats the problem, have you tried any other games ?

have you got the latest chipset and video drivers loaded ?

what operating system you running ?

Does the PC shutdown completely, or does it reboot?

If it shutsdown completely then it might be the machine turning itself off forcibly due to heat issues. If it is rebooting then it is probably Windows doing the neat InstaBSODReboot trick, in which case you can probably check the event viewer to see what is going on.

I would say it's most likely a faulty PSU. Especially if it's totally random when it happens. Overheat is a possibility, but my money is on the PSU.

Apart from the PSU do you have any other overclocking tool installed (even if your not using it) OTHER THAN rivatuner?

Punkbuster can cause many probs with programs, and gave me endless headaches with O/C tools.

thanks guys i will try and get money back from psu and get a new one i think. i have had comp on all day no probs temp is mid 30.c put cod 4 on and min. ran for a cuple of hours no probs so not softeware probs when in game temp does come up to 39.c. but think i have bought a **** psu
