PC keeps Locking up

to be honest any os issues i have my first port of call is either a system restore or a full reinstall granted i use a secondary drive for all my data so i dont lose anything but thats how i troubleshoot.

A clean install it is then! my spare drive containing Ubuntu decided to Fail on boot :(

I think ill take care with partitioning the OS and data so i can do this easier next time :p

its not your os,its most likely your brand of ram or vccio voltage not enough/too much

i find the newer bios to be much more stable im using a non gen version of the board, leave vccio and dram voltage on auto and see what it uses

then if still freezing try one/two clicks more vccio voltage,no more than 1.2v,you will only need two/three clicks more at most

then try

btw im running corsair vengeance and no issues at all

looking in the BIOS, the VCCIO voltage is moving between 1.04v and 1.06v
so what manual voltage should i raise it to? and is it 100% safe to do so?

try with 1.10v and see if its any better, yes its safe to use upto 1.2v but you wont need that much, its for the integrated memory controller inside the cpu

OK, thanks :)
I'm just installing Ubuntu, giving that a try, if Ubuntu doesn't work, then i will up the voltage and cross my fingers!

if it doesnt work with win7 you might aswell throw the mb away, just cantsee it being os,more like ram/fault or bios setting not right ect,but try with ubuntu if you want

Again, thanks for everyones help, much appreciated, id be stick otherwise :)

My reason for trying Ubuntu is to rule out any driver conflicts/virus/OS corruption and so on, if Ubuntu works perfectly, then that would indicate a problem with windows, in that case, i can do a clean instal and al should be well ;)

BUT if it doesn't work, i can start experimenting with the hardware.
i did try a lower VICC voltage but it didn't get rid of the problem, and I'm overcautious when it comes to increasing voltages, but will do it if its guaranteed safe :p

have you check event log? is any warning error regarding system or hdd?

ill check this as soon as Ubuntu has finished its thing.

tried this, run p95 and the locking up still happens

uninstalled bonjour, still happens :confused::confused::confused::confused:

There appears to be a very large number of errors regarding Bonjour!

Is that an app that is related to iphone? Have a google and check it was fully uninstalled it or turn it off. Perhaps this is crashing your system.

I used this to read the data dumps WhoCrashed, so far it has helped identify two driver issues on two PC's, easy to use for rookies like me http://www.resplendence.com/whocrashed

Well, I finally killed whatever was causing this by doing a fresh install. no amount of fiddling with settings would help, so there was no voltage issues after all :D

but, ASUS ai suite is still VERY unstable, i looked into the resource monitor and it was taking the HDD up to 98mb/s :/
