PC Keeps Turning Itself On After Shut down. Infiniti 720watt.

cHave just upgraded my PSU from a Corsair HX 520Watt to a Enermax Infiniti 720Watt, and an Antec 900 to an Antec 1200 Case. Have also added RAID 0 to my system. Now when i try and turn my PC of, the system powers down and then a second later turns back on again, no matter how many times i turn it of, it powers up again. Any ideas what the problem is??

Have you rechecked your case power connections to the MB headers? Does your MB use some remote like the ones provided with some Asus MB? Have you altered any options in the bios? Just thinking of the easily over looked things before blaming the PSU.

No i have changed nothing, i just swaped out the mobo and placed it in the new case along with the new PSU. I havent changed anything in the bios. I have double checked the connections to the mobo and then are all pluged in the correct pins. I cant think what would make the PC power back up agai, i thought it might have been a faulty button on the case, but even trying to shut the system down within windows and it starts up again!

It sounds like the power button is permanently making a connection with the motherboard.

(when the pc is unplugged) Try pressing the on button repeatedly to see if that releases it.

Other than that I'm stumped.

If that was so, wouldnt it turn itself off though, when i tried to turn it on, if the button was permanently making a connection with the motherboard?

Ok ill try that next, but i just shut it down this second and it powered back up again, but then power down and shut off after about 3 seconds!! Now i think im right in thinking that these Enermax PSU are surposed to have the fan stay on for a few minutes after the system shuts down??, maybe its something to do with this, as after the system did turn itself of the fan was not spinning!? i'll try clearing the BIOS

Right, just cleared the BIOS, and it still does it. It will shup down then turn on again for about 5 seconds and then shut down properly!!!

There are known compatability issues with the infiniti and the IP35.
You seem to be the lucky one. Many people can't switch their rig on in the first place with this combo!

If you can, send it back and opt for something else.

I reckon its haunted...

Sorry couldn't resist, personally I would flash the BIOS and check all cables...

I didn't know this, where did you read that info bout the ip35 and the infinity? I read in the manual that it has a feature called coolfan or something, basically it's surpossed to keep all fan in the system running for a while after power of. Just thinking this might be the cause of the problem?, surly it wouldn't be able to keep the case fans running as they are not connect to the mobo in any way on the Antec 1200!

I'll try that when I get home, but I don't think it is that, as it does shut down but it starts up again before it actually finally shuts down for good

Sorry I cant link due to board rules, but if you google 'ip35 infiniti', you should get some info.

try using the old corsair power supply again with the new case and raid setup ( though i cant see those changes being a problem ) if it works then you can guess it will be the new psu

:)

Ok, looked in the BIOS and all the 'WAKE' options are disabled. The Infiniti, has an LED and Buzzer status, so if anything is wrong the LED will show it and also the PSU would beep at me, and its doing none of this, the LED is Red when in standby and then green when i turn it one just as it should be
