pc locking up

does anyone else have this problem, whenever i extract large files say between 4-12gig mainly blueray movies my pc locks up randomly for 20-30 seconds then carrys on, is this normal? i've tried using winrar and 7zip problem still occuring,

yeah i have the latest drivers recently formatted everythings fresh, so weird
