which isn't good as i have assignments in for friday! Ive sent an email to Seagate (maxtor drive but owned by seagate?) but i doubt this is gunna be a quick turnaround 
. Maybe you forgot something or did something else on the way ? There are really a lot of minor factors that could mess up this.

I would play around a bit ( you can enable some of the options that you have disabled earlier and check whats happening etc ) and let me know if u found out anything else.
If nothing works there is always /format c:/.

I have found the issue, the Hard Drive is knackered. After only 4 months of owning it![]()
Try a different SATA cable too, they can break easily and cause errors, had something similar to thi on my bros PC

I'm now using a new 320gb drive on the same cable and port with no issues whatsoever. Now to get this Maxtor drive back to Seagate for replacement! Cheers guys.
