Hiya

I've been building a PC from all my old parts I've collected over the years. Its simply for internet use only.

The parts I have are:

P4 2.4ghz
P4S333 mobo
512mb DDR 333
60gb maxtor HDD
DVD rom
Geforce Ti4200 128mb

Basically I've set everything up, but it wont boot into windows XP. The bios recognizes everything correctly, and from what I can tell it looks fine.

Post screen looks fine (it sees the HDD, DVD, cpu, ram etc,) then it switches screen and basically hangs. Same thing happens when I try to boot into safe mode, it gets so far down the list of loaded files and freezes.

At first I thought it was the ram, because I was using DDR 400. So I bought some DDR333 (the motherboard speed,) but it does the same thing.

I tried the HDD in my setup and it boots windows fine. I've tried clearing the CMOS, but I'm having no luckk at all.

Is the motherboard dead or something? Anyone have any ides?

Thanks

Thanks for your reply.

Well I initially tried to install windows on the PC itself, but it wouldn't setup properly. it would stop half way through. So I took the HDD and installed windows onto it from my main PC.

It is a fresh install

Even if I done that it would still boot right?
