Just put together a new pc.

I reset windows from reusing the ssd from my old computer.

Intermittently the pc wont POST. I have to hard reset.

When i unplug the hard drive it i can get it to boot into the bios.

Have a brand new 650w corsair psu.

When i did manage to get into windows, it crashed occasionally with the blue screen.

I installed all the drivers etc.

Im not sure if its the memory, hard drive or what the issue is?

B450 msi carbon ac
3333 mhz ddr4 hyper x predator
Corsair 650w bronze psu

Power down the system.

Unplug the HDD. leave it unplugged!

Start comp - Reinstall windows onto the SSD.

Get everything going, updates etc. Restarting fine etc everything looks good

power down system - Plug the HDD back in.

If any funny business during boot -> Make sure BIOS boot order has SSD first, not the HDD.

Sound's like your boot table is on the HDD not SSD or sommot. So unplug the HDD, get everything sorted with SSD, then plug HDD back in.

Ive tried resetting windows.

Ive unplugged the second hdd and put a new cable on the ssd.

It boots more consistantly now, however windows freezes up occasionally with critical process error.

Ran a check on the RAM, showed no errors.

Cant get round the blue screen errors.

Windows 10 gave the option to delete all personal files and reset.
Would a format and fresh install be diffrent?

Yes, you need to put your USB stick in and spam f2 or delete to get in to the bios, then boot from your USB stick, custom install, delete all the partitions on the SSD so all the space goes into one, then create a new partition and install windows in the big one.

Don't think you need a new HDD.

Try - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQq-iGL_3P8

Unplug the HDD whilst your doing this. Don't plug it back in until the comp is working and updated!

Just make sure all the other HDDs and SSD's you have are not plugged in when installing windows on the new nvme.

You can just unplug the sata cables from the motherboard, shouldn't need to mess around with the actual drives

Ive just installed a fresh nvme drive. Disconnected all other drives. New copy of windows from usb boot.
Reseated the ram.
I will have to test a bit later when i can get back to it and see if it makes any diffrence
