Hi me agian, I got the PC booted but now am having trouble with my internet connection.
This connections was fine on my old computer so it is nothing to do with the router or host computer.
Im using a NTL broadband connection from a Mac (host) through a belkin router to my PC upstairs. The connection is fine on the host, as iam posting now on it, all the correct lights are lite on the modem and router, but the PC doesnt seem to be picking up the connection.
The ethernet cable iam using from the router has a red light as its plugged in the back of my PC, this used to be green on my old PC when it worked, whats this meen?
I just need to know how to let my PC know the connection it has and how to configure it if this is what to do.
I have been on the phone to belkin for 30min and they gave up. They didnt understand what was wrong.
I did this before some how but cannot remember how to do it
Please someone help as you did so well before.

Edit - Please note this is a new computer so I have not setup any connection yet. Whats this connection wizard in the network place? Do I need to make the connection?

Thanks

is the LAN enabled in network connections, have you configured the LAN in new connections and if you check in device manager is your ethernet working properly or have you got a yellow question mark next to it.

I have not created a new connection as I was told it should just automaticlly come up as I think it has with a connection under "High Speed LAN Connection" in Network Connections.
This connection is enabled but how do I configure? By putting the I.P address in and submask etc?
Where can I find device manager?

And I have another problem in that my computer crashes when I re-boot and when I put the belkin driver cd in it needs to re-boot to install.....

Ok I checked and it does have a yellow ? by it. Do I need to install the router drivers then? It couldent find any drivers when it searched. But I will look for drivers on the Belkin website.

Sounds to me like you need a driver for the nic on your motherboard - you might also want to check whether the networking features of your board are fully enabled in the BIOS...
