PC not switching on!

Hey,

Built my current PC in April 2006 and its been fine since then but yesterday I went to switch it on and nothing happened. The red LED light on the back of the PSU is on but nothing appears to be working. I tried a few times and managed to get the red LED on the front of the case to blink once ( not been able to replicate since) but thats all, no fans or hard drives starting to spin up no nothing. I am thinking that the PSU has gone up the shoot? I'm not really in a position to try another one as the other PSU's I have available are all around the 300w mark.
My specs are:
AMD64 3700+ @ 2.6Ghz w/ Artic Cooler Pro
2GB G.Skill ZX
DFI Lanparty Ultra-D
X1900XT 512MB
X-Fi Xtreme Music
WD 120GB SATA
WD 74GB Raptor
WD 80GB IDE
Hiper 580w Type R

Nothing like this has ever happened to me in 3 years of custom PC building so i'm not really sure what to do next! Please advise!

Thanks,

You dont have to hook up the whole rig! just the Mobo and graphics if needed to test if it will boot.

Hi,

Little update, received a replacement PSU from Hiper but its still not working. When the power switch is applied to PSU LED's 1 & 6 are lit orange on the motherboard and nothing happens after I press the power button either on the Motherboard or on case. I am guessing the CPU or Motherboard is totalled?

first of all did you try the advice mentioned above - just get the cpu, gfx (and ram i think) connected to the mobo, and nothing else, and see if you can post the machine.

on the other hand, one day i came home from work ready to start some admin on my machine, and when i hit the power button it was like very very very dead. no light on the mobo, no fans, nothing. i dunno what was wrong but my guess was a power surge killed the mobo.

anyway, had to buy a new mobo and rebuild - which was not what i wanted to do. but in retrospect, the positive bit was that 'cos i was put in this postion of having to do something drastic, i upgraded my mobo, cpu, and ram and got a better machine :D

Thanks, tried that but no game. Been looking on DFI Street forums and apparently:

4 LEDs on = Power applied, checking CPU
3 LEDs on = CPU has been detected OK, checking RAM
2 LEDs on = RAM has been detected OK, checking VGA
1 LED on = VGA has been detected OK, entering BIOS
0 LEDs on = System has booted to the Operating System

So according to this my X1900XT has died :( How long is the warranty that Sapphire offer as its over a 1 year old so I doubt OCUK can help.
