not always, but sometimes when i resume my PC from hibernating, it will crash on boot up. generally it is on the login screen, but occasionally it will be after that.

also, on a probably related note. if my computer has recently gone into hibernation, and i turn my monitor and speakers off at the wall (speakers arent even connected to the PC though) the computer will come out of hibernation.

anyone got any ideas what could be causing this other than a faulty install of windows (which is what i have suspected the problem is ever since my graphics driver problems?

*edit*
meant to ask, would installing service pack one solve my problems, and would it give me any other problems?

*edit 2*
when i hibernated the PC this morning, everything went just fine. i turned the PC off at the plug (but not at the switch at the back though). then i turned the monitor and speakers off and the CPU fan spun up for a second and the blue LED lit up

am i right in thinking there might be a problem with the socket its plugged into?
(it booted up just fine this afternoon though)

I have a similar problem sometimes, I wake up the screen from hibernation and its frozen, requires restart. I was thinking to remove the hibernate feature from windows. It feels like something isnt loading properly after hibernation, not sure though - so i'll keep an eye on this thread too!

Probably a driver issue. Update the drivers for the monitor and see if it makes a difference.

already got the latest driver for my monitor

tried a different plug socket, and managed to eliminate the plug sockets completely last night, but i still got the problem.

first i hibernated the computer as normal. when the computer had finished hibernating i switched off the PC at the wall (it was in a different socket from last time), unplugged the power lead completely and switched off the PSU at the switch

still crashed on the login screen :(
