hi guys.

when switched on, my desktop (win 7 32bit) just shows a blank screen apart from the message that its running in low power mode, no boot screens, bios options etc.

if i unplug the monitor, it says that there is no connection.

i tried the monitor on another pc and its ok.
i then replaced the graphics card with the original and it still gives the same message.

when powered, the fan on the PSU is working, also the fan on the CPU (i3) is working.

any ideas on the problem?

tia

no onboard graphics.

32bit win 7
8gig ram (was going to put 64bit os on)
radeon hd5770 (from overclockers)
corsair cx430 (from overclockers)
dvd and 500mb hd through sata connections.

ahh ok its an msi p55 board

could be bios issue with it supporting the gpu,but to flash/update the bios you would need to get a picture on screen

only way to know is to test with another gpu if you can,

what leads are you using from gpu to your monitor? hdmi/dvi/vga ect try all of them if you have the option

EDIT does that board have onboard vga/dvi/hdmi ports? if so you can use the i3's built in graphics

the card only has dvi.
but my original card has dvi/vga and that gives the "low power mode" message on both inputs as well.

EDIT: no onboard vga/dvi/hdmi ports.

I think it could be a bios issue with the motherboard supporting the 5770

only way to know for sure is to try a different graphic card and see what happens
