I recently upgraded motherboard, cpu and ram. I installed windows 10 and after logging in the screen is backlit but black. Restarting has a single buffering circle with windows symbol and then immediately goes to backlit black screen (crashes before log in screen).
When starting the computer in safe mode there are no issues.
Does anyone have any suggestions for possible fixes?

Windows 10 64bit
PC Specs:
Mobo: Gigabyte 7370P D3
CPU: Intel Core i5 9400F 2.9Ghz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7870
RAM: 8GB DDR4 3000MHz
HD: OCZ-TRION 100 240gb
PSU: 550W XFX PRO
CD: Asus DRW-24B5ST

Thanks

Did you do a clean install of windows when you upgraded or did you just use your previous os?

What did you upgrade from?

Assuming you wiped the partition and did a fresh install of 10 then its likely some driver causing the OS to fall over as safe mode loads default drivers for most things (or doesnt load them atall)

Try deleting some of the drivers from devices in device manager, prob starting with the video card to see if it helps.

Originally used old OS and realised that wasn't a good idea so clean installed windows 10

Upgraded from
Windows 7
Mobo: MSI- Z77A-G43
CPU: Core I5 (can't remeber exact model)
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7870
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1666Mhz

HD: OCZ-TRION 100 240gb
PSU: 550W XFX PRO
CD: Asus DRW-24B5ST

So the graphics card, CPU and RAM were the only important parts to change and I changed from windows 7 to 10

When your in safe mode can you check event viewer for details of the crash?

What are you installing on too? A ssd or a normal hdd?

Trying this now...

Event Viewer has Critical error, source: Kernel-Power, Event ID: 41, Task Category (63)
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first.
(I have been pressing the restart button)

Installing on to a SSD, I have a spare HDD if you think this could be an issue.

Rolled back GPU driver and windows loaded. Fingers crossed it doesn't crash again, thanks.

Attempted to update drivers to newest version and I had the same issue, so rolled back and it works again. Do you think everything will function normally on the older driver?

Could always try DDU to remove the drivers and then re install the latest drivers. If it’s still a issue then stick to the drivers that work
