Ok, so a friend at work has built a new PC with a new MB, Core i5, 8GB of memory and he does have a GTX560 as well. When powered on the fans spin up and all seems good, no bleeps from the MB or anything...

... and still nothing, he doesn't get the BIOS spash screen up or anything. He has tried with both the onboard video out and with the GPU and the result is the same, nothing at all. The ram has been swapped out and tried in different configurations also.

Any ideas?

The bleeping seems to be a thing of the past unless he's got a speaker onboard then he probably wont hear anything.

Didn't know that, I only got my Z77-D3H a few months ago and it still gives me a chirpy bleep on post. Still it is worth bearing in mind.

I'm going to go with yes, I wasn't there to hold his hand at the time but I think it is a fair bet it was.

Still people do stupid things, I once left my phone in my fridge, couldn't find the thing for hours.

Aye some of them have it onboard, but not all. Try a new cable or another PC into the same cable and monitor.

Yeah I'm going to suggest connecting to a different monitor via HDMI as well. Failing that a complete rebuild to eliminate all possible mistakes.
