PC PROBLEM: Black screen....

Hi all, i wonder if you could offer your opinion on this. Yesterday my pc did not work correctly and when i switched the power on all it offered me was a black screen.

I have checked all components that they are seated correctly. No joy

I individually run each hard drive just in case one failed. No joy

I changed gpu's to a spare one i had. No joy

Everything seems to boot up normally from a sound point of view. I cant see anything obvious at fault while looking at the hardware on boot.

Is this likely it is a psu failure?

If it's powering up but you're getting a black screen, I wouldn't think PSU. I'd try another monitor and cables since you've already tried a different GPU.

I have two monitors and neither work. My understanding that a psu fault does not always die of death should we say?

It's definitely possible then considering everything you've tried. Are you getting standby lights etc on the monitor? Have you tried running it from onboard graphics?

You get no splash screen on booting? But you have sound? What sound?

Try the GPU in a different PCI slot, then if that doesn't work try using the onboard graphics.
