For some reason last night my second computer, out of the blue, went funny, my daughter was using MSN and the monitor just went into standby mode. Everytime I tried to restart it, the fans, hardrive, GFX fan worked fine, but the monitor just stayed in standby, wouldnt come on.

Now after getting home from work this afternoon, i tried it again but this time it went to the post screen and just hung there, no HD, floppy detected or anything, it just hung, and the last few attempts it just remain`d in standby mode again.

The specs are Epox 8RDA+ mobo, 2400XP Athlon, 2x512 DDR400 RAM, 6600GT gfx card AGP, a DVD ROM drive, CD-RW drive, 3.5 floppy, 500W PSU.

Anyone have any ideas, or the post digits on Epox boards.

UPDATE : Ok, I attached the mini speaker to the mobo connections ( its off my old mobo ), now all I got was a 1 1/2 second beep, the little LED counter on the mobo read C1, and thats it, monitor stays in standby mode. Ive tried switching the memory around, and even put in an old 256mb stick of 333 memory, but it still does the same thing.

Thx for that, much appreciated.

Unfortunatly tho it dosent have what mine is doing, just a one beep.

When i used to boot my PC in the past, the LED counter on the mobo would say C1 and pass through some other codes before settling on FF, and working perfectly, now it just sits at C1, with the monitor in standby.

Anyone else know or have experience with this Epox motherboard?

Thx.

Thx for that, but most of the problems Epox owners of that board had were from new, mines 4 years old and has worked perfectly since day 1, its just started being naughty now.

Have you tried removing everything down to basics and starting up. I also read that one chap found his heatsink fan caused this. Google. (not suggesting you start up without it and it makes no sense to me). Can you reset bios?

Does it notice that I am grabbing at straws here?

I took everything off bar the HD and GFX card and memory, it just beeps for 1 1/2 secs and the monitor remains in standby mode.

I tried swapping the RAM, changing it but nothing.
