I'm not sure what section this would fit into, therefore its being posted here.
Basically, my flatmate cant get his pc to work. He bought all the components separately (some from the US) and put them all together. Now, when he connects his pc up to a monitor and turns it on he just gets a black screen. The fan whirrs and everything seems to be working in the tower but there is no response from the monitor.
Weve tried 2 different monitors and even connected a graphics card (hes running off onboard graphics) to see if anything changes but its still the same results. We figure it must be a problem with the connection to the monitors as when we disconnect the cable from the back of the tower, the monitor springs to life with a "No Signal" message floating about.
If a mod feels the need to move this, go ahead please. Thanks in advance for the help!
Update:
Unfortunatly, he cant remember the exact specs so ive had a look around inside:
400w Coolermaster PSU
Winfast 6150M2MA Mobo
1gb ram
40gb hdd
Amd processor
Also, holding in the power button does not turn off the power.
