I LOVE racing games, I'm not much of a sim nut, but the best racing game I ever played was the Forza series on the 360. Now I'm on the PC, I'm missing Forza, what can I get to replace it?

Little bit arcadey, but with strong simulation physics.

Also, how on earth do I get the game? It seems to be a minefield of forums haha. I just want a 'buy here' button...

it says purchase at the top left which takes you to this link
http://forum.wmdportal.com/toolpacks.php
the money you spend on the lower toolpacks gets discounted from the next tier.

im a full member so senior for me is now €55 for example.

70% of the profits gets divided between toolpack owners aswell so assuming the game makes a profit everyone will get atleast their investment back and more than likely a decent return aswell.

the game is planned for the consoles aswell so its more than likely to happen.

atm the total development cost is set at €3.75mil budget and SMS say they will make €25 profit on each full price game sold which would mean they would only need to sell 150,000 full price copies to cover the development cost which in theory gives everyone a full refund on their toolpack

they will soon hit 3.75mil funds though and might have a vote to increase the budget.

DO NOT JUMP IN THINKING ITS AN INVESTMENT AND YOU WILL GET A MASSIVE RETURN THOUGH

Hold off with pCars for now because it's being developed all the time so basically you are only buying it to be in the beta group but it's still fun atm with time trails, online and afew other stuff but if your still interested in getting the game http://forum.wmdportal.com/toolpacks.php, if i was you i would look at NFS: SHIFT 2.

Even though it's in Alpha/Beta I still recommend it to be honest, I haven't had as much fun in a racing game as I've had in that and there is online play now in some of the medium tier pricing packages. I'm guessing Full Member and above and what seems like a career mode as well.

I'm only a Team Member so don't have access to Career or Online modes at the moment.

they said they will start opening multiplayer upto team member soonish but probably only for selected days or a week out of a month.

they just added 3 row detected to the Seta handling model btw (basicly the centre , outer edge and inner edge of the tyre model has been implemented rather than a single contact patch)

http://www.iracing.com/ the biggest and the best, wish I'd got into it earlier, its not expensive at all, the best racing to be found on any sim game, and I've played them all.

50% off at the moment so costs less than a cheap curry to get a 3 months subscription for that you get a few cars and about 10 tracks.(more than enough to keep you happy for months)

Everything is Laser scanned so the tracks are better than anything else out there at the moment. We also both get some free credits if you use referral system :D

If you really like racing games you must try Iracing

Right, I was going to go for Senior, but if I pay for full member (45 euros) which allows me to upgrade to senior later for 55 euros. I'm going to go for full member then.

I was also under the impression this is a subscription game?

I have heard so many good things about this game, sod it. Going to give it a shot tonight :) Via 360 controller :(

Project Cars is a one time payment and if you go full member you'll get the final version of the game whenever it's ready you can go for the higher tier packages at a later date if the exclusive/track day stuff interests you. The higher tier packages like Senior as it states are for more exclusive tracks and a track day meetup if you're into that. I'm using a 360 controller and enjoying it...

one time purchase if you go for full member you get a boxed copy of the game sent to you.
but you could just go for the €10 package and upgrade if you like it.

be warned it is pre alpha , nothing is final and tracks etc are beeing updated on a daily basis.

that being said the game is still a lot of fun

the wet weather effects they recently added are awesome but kill your FPS! but the game hasnt been optimised yet

also day > night transitions in real time :D

you can speed it upto 300X in the options

Closest you will get to Forza is Shift 2 with the community patch. This patch makes the game handle really really well. Upgrading/tweaking is decent as well.

Race 07 if you fancy a full on sim, there's a catalogue of expansions you can add to it.

Race 07 on its own is all you need to play online though and its cheap on steam.

Agreed, Forza passes itself off as sim but it certainly isn't and has more of the NFS feel as it's easy to pick up and play.

Shift 2 is enjoyable if you don't expect to much real world representation.

iRacing is my favourite but it's the complete opposite, there's no 'casual' play aspect.

Yea, really just want a decent racing game with a decent career with lots of tuning.

I would defo say check out Shift 2, career is ok even though I have not finished it yet. Someone even made some kind of mod that changed the career mode as well. Check out nogripracing for all the mods etc. Not sure about online racing though so no idea if still active.

Shift 2 was designed to played on consoles with an Xbox controller, so you should be ok with it.

Just don't expect to be able to play it with a steering wheel without having use mods and lots of tweaking.

The newest UCP is pretty much ready to go out of the box, I installed it last night and my wheel was working good with its default settings.
