As title really my pc is refusing to post. Nothing comes up on my monitor , no bios bleeps to help me out.

All fans start up , HD light comes on as if it loading windows up, but again there is nothing on monitor it just says no video input/output.

Tried reseating grahics card and RAm but to no avail.

I'm thiniking it could be the grphics card due to thing been shown on the monitor. DOes anyone have any thoughts ?

I thought the picture became distorted when your card went though

Any help would be great thanks in advance

You say you can't get past the POST.. so how did you check your GC and RAM?

Have you changed anything recently that may have caused the problem? Sounds obvious but you may have dislodged something. Check everything is connected securely.

Anyway, do you get a single POST beep?

If not, then make sure you're GC is connected correctly and the contacts are clean and make good contact.

If you do, then check that the Video cable is ok and you have no bent pins. Swap it out for a known working one. Same with the monitor if you can.

Can you get your hands on a cheap Video card? If so, swap it out for a known working one just to get into windows. If you can get into windows and the video cable and monitor are ok, then you are looking at a duff GC.

If you still can't get into windows then you may have to check your memory.. Use Memtest86+ to verfiry that this is ok.

This is normally down to bad drivers or a faulty video cable. If the GC failed, then you would get no picture at all, which may be the case. Check the above first before assuming it is though.

No I dont even get a post bleep. I haven't replaced or touched anything for long time now.

I've reseated the GC and reseated the RAM and tried different Banks in different slots.

I don't think its the cables as I have dual monitors and neither work.

About 6 weeks ago my screen did have funny lines across both screens.

But I always thought GC went slowly.

Can cards just blow like that where nothing appears on the screen.

can anyone else confirm this. As I have never heard of this before. Its not I don't belive you deleted. Just I dont want to go otu and buy a new PSU for no reason.

Does anyone else have any ideas

heh I wouldnt rush out to buy one either, do you not have a PSU you can try in your current rig or borrow one? its a lot of money for hit an miss.

The fact that you don't get a POST beep concerns me.. If you are concerned about the PSU, then check your rails using a multi meter..

Power test for Power output

Turn PC off but leave plug connected.
Take power connector (Molex) and insert black probe into black wire connector.
Insert red probe into red wire connector.
Set multi-meter to 20volts and turn on PC.
Read out should be around +5volts.
Turn off PC and repeat process but this time connecting the red probe into the yellow wire.
Power PC on again and read the read out should give you around +12volts

Allow for some deviation. For 5volts between +4.8volts and +5.2volts and for 12volts between +11.5volts and 12.6volts.

Anything outside these there is certain to be a problem with the power supply.

Also , can you get into the BIOS ok?

I would

(a) Remove the ram, and see if it beeps.
(b) If the graphic card has a power connector, remove that, and see if it beeps.

I think it could be either the GC or the Motherboard.

I had the same problem a couple of weeks back. It was my motherboard that was faulty. All the fans except the CPU fan span at 100% and nothing appeared on the monitor.

it does sound like the motherboard imo.. which was why i was asking if you could get into the BIOS....

I'm affraid the only way you 'll find out for sure is process of ellimination of all your components.. Check that PSU first then try a second graphics adaptor (always worth have a cheapy floating around).

Don't know about Bios because nothing appears on screen. Basically the screen is like when your monitor isn't attached to anything.

So to clarify if I remove all the RAM or take power off GC I should get some sort of bios bleep
