Say you provide hardware upgrades services as suggested, then how will it work out such as if the customer had faulty motherboard or hard disk? Will you suggest them to buy certain motherboard for their pc or will you replace the motherboard yourself with the money out of your own pockets?

Don't bother.

I get sick of one off IT jobs on-top of my main job. Home users are a pain in the neck almost always. Avoid.

I'm guessing if it's in warranty he'll rma it and replace it, and charge for the call out. If it's out of warranty, he'll possibly recomend a similar spec motherboard, and figure that cost into his charge for the job.
