PC restarting after gaming

Hello. Just put together a new build and the PC just restarted after playing a game for 5 minutes. Now, when I try to switch it on, it boots for a few seconds then cuts out... then starts again. Though I can't see anything due to the GPU not powering up. There's no onboard graphics on the mobo but I've tested a spare card and that won't power either. Oddly enough it did this when I first tested the finished build with the sides off, but I checked the connections and THOUGHT I solved it, until I tried a game. Does this mean the PSU is faulty? It's a Corsair RM750 which I'm sure is enough to power the PC. Full specs below, I appreciate any help.

Asus X99-S
i7-5820K LGA2011-3
Corsair Veneance 16gb Ddr4
Ocuk GTX 980
Corsair H100i
Corsair RM750

Correct pci-e slot? good contact/connection?

Looks like the rm750 only has two ports of 6+2, so it's not like you could swap that around.... Is the PSU about 3yrs old?

Everything's new. The card is in the top PCI slot and was fine for desktop stuff. :(

EDIT: I think I'll recheck all the PSU connectors, they're so stiff maybe one isn't fully in. Would that cause a game to restart the PC?

Possibly overheating? have you checked temperatures? Are you able to download HWmonitor? Are the fans spinning up accordingly?

Insufficient power, your PSU is about 3 years old? Are you able to borrow a friends PSU? You could also try different cables if you have any laying around.

Have you checked the windows event log?

Also looks like you don't have an onboard graphics processor on that specific CPU, so you can't switch.

--- Also i presume you've done all the driver updates?

Just re-checked all the PSU connectors, left the system for about 20 mins and it started as normal. Not tested a game yet but I think it's a heat/thermal issue with the CPU, makes sense since it booted properly after a cool down period. Thinking of reapplying some new paste to the CPU to see if that helps, as I'm just using the pre applied h100i paste at present.

Check temperatures, hwmonitor is good. Pre applied paste should be fine tbh

I suppose you could dismantle h100 and reapply thermalpaste to rule it out. Thought it would be interesting to see what temperatures are in idle and load. On both gpu and cpu

This is at idle stock.

Cpu fan seems to be spinning for dear life or is that pump rpm? Id still recommend downloading hwmostability. 31c is perfectly fine in idle, have you tried and stresstest programs? Try running prime95 to check stability and temperatures under load.

Id also stress test gpu. Always monitor your temperatures using a software, such as Hwmonitor

Also it might be worth flashing bios if you're experiencing problems.

Well, this is what it shows in HWMonitor. Is that CPU fan RPM normal? I have no idea tbh. :o Thanks for the suggestions, I think the BIOS could update and I'll do some stress tests after that.

Right, temperatures look great tbh, so no point reapplying thermal paste. The Rpm you see at 22xxrpm is likely to be the pump. Which is normal.

Run prime95 to check cpu stability and temperatures under load.

Also you'll need to run Gpu stresstest using fur mark, like the cpu check temperatures and stability.
