PC shutdown randomly and wont restart.

So I was on my PC, I went for dinner with my PC left on, when I returned my PC was off, went i went to restart it the PSU blew.
I bought it earlier this year its a custom gaming PC. I have a Asus M5A78L-M LX V2 MOBO that says it has anti surge and the psu was unbranded.
I know I will need a new PSU (thinking of a corsair 500w builder series ) just worried that the other components will be affected, I have looked and there are no scorch marks on the MOBO.
There was a smell from the PSU but I expected that from the bang it made.

There is only one way to find out if the other components have been damaged, by fitting the new psu and starting up the system.

It also kept on blue screening before this

No custom build. with no warranty on any of the parts

Ah ok.
Well an unbranded PSU is always a bad PSU
