Hi,

Anyone got any ideas why a PC would shut down for absolutely no reason?

Nothing in Windows Error Reporting, no BSOD, no errors on restart, temps are fine as far as I can see (happens when idling as well) core temp says 42-48depending on the core.

System spec:

Core 2 Extreme QX6800 at stock with Corsair H20 Cooler
DFI LanParty UT ICFX3200-T2/R
8GB (4 x 2GB) Kingston PC-6400 RAM
ATi/XFX 5770 at stock
SB X-fi Elite Pro
Silverstone Olympia 1000W PSU with APC Smart-UPS 2200VA

have you looked in c:\windows\minidump?

any chance the PC could be BSOD quickly then powering off rather than restartring, but so quick you done notice the BSOD?

Only time Ive had it jsut totally shutting off is when the heat sink wasnt on properly a couple of years ago, that just cut off totally, but as you said heat seems ok for you.

if its shutting down its obviously not for no reason.
Id say psu if its just cutting off, or a bad motherboard, run a skeleton (eg. basic setup with mobo cpu cooler gpu and ram)
