Hi
I've had recent issues with my PC shutting down and I've put it down to overheating, I say this because after the 3rd shutdown I went straight into the BIOS and CPU temp was reading 71c to me that's way too hot.
I think the problem maybe 2 fold but I thought it would be worth asking the experts first before I end up wasting money. First though a bit about my PC:
Motherboard: ASUSTek M5A99X EVO
RAM: Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
CPU: AMD FX-8350 (not overclocked)
FAN: Arctic Freezer 7
Case: Zalman Z11
HDDs: 1x 120GB SSD and 3x3TB HDDs
PSU: OCZ 600w
What's recently changed, well the case has, my old trusty Antec 900 which I've had since 2006 finally packed in and the button section broke.
Surely though a case can't make that much difference or can it.
I'm aware my fan is probably not good enough for this CPU but looking around I'm slightly scared by the size of these massive fans which are available today.
Before I show you what my temps are I must point put that I live in the UK and it's not very warm here, when the summer arrives (if it plans to this year) my temps will increase a lot so I need to take action now.
On Friday I removed the CPU and reseated it, that in itself has helped drop temps from high 60s to low 60s under load.
I ran prime95 and when temps hit 71c I stopped the program, that took about 10 mins to achieve.
Considering my PC is on 16 hrs a day 7 days a week I need to get this sorted.
My system/mainboard temp seems high is the Zalman Z11 not really any good for a gaming rig?
Are these temps too high?
What I'm thinking about doing is replacing the heatsink since it's hot to the touch (at the top of the heatsink too) so it's not getting rid of the heat.
I'm also considering whether this new case is any good and should I replace that too?
Any advice on what I should do?
